How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe people running the hostel were very nice and friendly. The location was very good too, next to famous beaches. The main room is in a cave which was kind of nice since it was really hot and there is no air conditioning. There is a very nice restaurant down the road (5 min walk).
There is only one bathroom for the guests and a second toilet (which was not very clean). The electricity is sometimes not working. The breakfast was too simple but cheap. The price for the room (65 euros) was too expensive for what it actually was !

Verified reviewGreat location between all the main beaches, fantastic views from the hostel and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Also amazing breakfast! Would recommend as a great authentic Albanian stay 😊
We had a few power cuts in the town but this was beyond the owners control, but just wanted to note if others plan to remote work from there as I did!

Verified reviewWonderful location, wonderful hosts. Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Felt very welcoming to everyone. Fantastic views. Highly recommend staying here over in Himarë. Vuno and Shitgun hostel are fantastic.
It’s a part of traveling, and it’s important to just adapt and go with it but the electricity and WiFi did go out when I was there…no big deal just reminded me to live in the moment and put down my phone.

Verified reviewLoved this place. I always wanted to stay in one of the village houses and the hostel gives you that experience. The hosts are lovely and I would highly recommend to try the food they prepare. Stay in Vuno, there are many things to see, hike, and do around the area to get a great "south" experience.

Verified reviewThe hostel was beautiful - the view and facilities were total magic and Vuno is the best place to stay in this region hands down as you can easily explore all the coastline. It was super small - just two rooms. One dorm and one 'private'
We found our stay quite uncomfortable. We booked the private room which despite being in a hostel was the most expensive of our trip. The 'private room' turned out to be the bedroom of the couple who owned the hostel and they slept outside our door on a mattress on the ground. This would have been a total vibe normally but honestly, they made us feel unwelcome and like we were intruding on their space... they also charged us for a late check out without warning us... (we texted to check if it was ok) overall just got very passive-aggressive energy and we just felt really uncomfortable the whole time

Verified reviewStaying at Shotgun is such a unique and authentic experience. Bree and Adrian have created such a cosy place and their charisma makes everyone feel so at ease, as if visiting old friends. We had breakfast and dinner at the hostel which were super healthy, delicious and at great prices. I loved staying there and will definitely return next summer.

Verified reviewGreat location tucked away in the Albanian hills, close to some stunning beaches and the cutest little town of Vuno. It felt like I was staying in a very traditional Albanian home. The hostel hosts are so lovely and helpful. The food is excellent and well priced, coffee is great and got some good local recommendations for the rest of my trip around Albania. One of the better hostels I've stayed in. If you are driving make sure you park in town, and then it's a short walk to the hostel.

Verified reviewThe views from the terrace are amazing, very quiet and relaxing place to spend a few days. Kind of hippy/rustic style, there are 2 dogs and one cat that keep you company. Camila was super kind and helpful, she did her best to make my stay a great experience. She was lovely to talk to and gave me great recommendations on things to do. I would definitely stay at this hostel again, Vuno is a beautiful and charming village!
My bed wasn't comfortable at all, I think the mattress should be renewed as soon as possible. Therefore, I felt the price was too high for such bed, I understand the views are great but commodity should always be a priority when pricing a bed / room. Thanks to Camila, who offered me a change of bed without hesitations, I could at least sleep well the following night.

Verified reviewLocated in a beautiful village with amazing sea view. Adorable dogs and a cat. This is an old traditional house, renovated by the hostel owners
Be aware that there is still a significant hike to gjipe( around 1.5 ) hours

Verified reviewA really beautiful building with lovely common areas that had a sea view. Staff were lovely and accommodating with a reasonably late check-in. Some of our group stayed in the private room which was beautifully decorated and very spacious. The breakfast in the morning was also very delicious.
We stayed just the one night out of our 3 night booking as we found the rooms too hot without air conditioning or adequate fans (1 fan in an 6 bed dorm overnight when it didn't hit under 32 degrees Celsius), a shame because we otherwise loved the accommodation!

Verified reviewThe hostel is located in a lovely village. The owners are really nice and helpful, they cook tasty breakfasts. The hostel is atypical and very cute! Nice play to stay in the area.
The beds are not very comfortable. Only one shower and toilet for the whole hostel (around 15 to 20 people can be in the hostel at the same time maximum I would say)
