How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe Galley party hostel is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at! The Vibe of the hostel is super lovely and relaxed, feels like home immediately. They offer family meals every evening and daily activities. A special thank you to the volunteers Isaac, Idell and Henry for making the boat party the absolute highlight of my time in shkodër. 10 out of 10 would recommend staying at the Galley!

Verified reviewI stayed at The Galley in early June, per the reccomendation of a friend who had previously volunteered there, and it was absolutely fantastic. The entire crew instantly made me feel like part of the Galley family, and provided guests with chaotic good times. I am not typically the most outgoing person, but these amazing people really made my entire trip feel like home 💓. Beyond that, the hostel itself is beautiful - the rooms are spacious, clean and vibrant, everything is tidy and welcoming, and the breakfasts and "family dinners" just tie it all together. Already planning my next trip to stay again. Love you all!
I wasn't able to stay longer :( I wish I could have extended!

Verified reviewI've extended my stay a few nights because of excellent dagtrips like going to the castle of Skoder watching the sunrise and the Mesi Bridge under the guide of Bas! Absolute blast! What a view and what an amazing vibe riding your bike through the streets of skoder. Then today might have topped it with a day trip to the blue eye, a sparkling blue water spring mountain well you can swim in situated in Theth, organised and led by Jack. A few hours through stunning nature until you arrive at the blues water you've ever seen. Don't let the cold water hold you back from a swim after the warm hike! What a blast! Then every night there is a bar crawl to the sparkling city of Skoder led by Gus who always seems to get everyone in the best mood to have fun! I definitely recommend this stay!

Verified reviewLocated in a former school building in the centre of Shkodër, only a few minutes away from the bus station and the main pedestrian street. Comfortable beds and great showers. Behind the hostel there is a nice spacious sunterrace, with plenty of shade as well. Gaz, Sydney, Max and Sarah are great company for lunch, drinks and gossips 😀
The place felt a bit overscheduled and overregulated. The hostel bar is quite expensive compared to other bars in the city (other bars play better music too!). The staff as a collective gave off a strong 'we're broke, homeless and waiting for our Schengen days to reset' kind of vibe. I suppose that will be less noticeable once the season starts and there will be more than a handful of guests. Staff managed to loose not one or two, but six of my socks when I had my laundry done.

Verified reviewThe hostel is in a great location, a few minutes walking from the city center and from the main bus stop and close to shops like bakery, supermarket, etc. The staff is really helpful, well informed and kind, they helped me with everything I needed for my stay and also helped me organize a trip to Valbona. It's a great place to socialize and have fun, but I could also find quiet spots to work when I needed to. Everything was clean and tidy at all times, the kitchen is huge, well equipped and can accommodate several guests at the same time, the beds were comfortable, with big lockers next to them. I highly recommend it.

Verified reviewIt’s such a cozy, homey stay. Very social and lovely common areas to connect with like minded people. The indoor garden is my favorite place to hang out and chill. The volunteers made me feel so welcome and at home the moment I stepped through the door. Thank you galley family 🫶🏼 I’ll be back!!

Verified reviewDaily activities around shkoder and nightly outings was the perfect mix of wholesome and messy. My first couple nights even though I was one of the only guests all the staff made me feel like part of the family immediately (big up Paige, Em, Autumn, Francis, Dani, Alex, Lea, Rhys and Randy y’all absolutely made my stay and shoutout Freddy for the family dinners)! Kieran was a legend too, helped so much planning the rest of my trip which I would’ve sincerely struggled to book on my own. Even on the night it flooded we made it out to a bar and if nothing else this was the best place to enjoy a cheap raki or two :)

Verified reviewvery friendly atmosphere and warm welcome. Immediately felt at home. Convient location close to the roundabout where most busses leave. We only stayed for one night, so we couldn't participate in any of the activities they organize, but I could imagine it to be a very good place for solo travellers

Verified reviewStaff were nice and helpful, they had a room that you could leave bag in for 2€ a night while you went on the valbona to theth hike.
It’s located in a bit of a dodgier area. Didn’t feel particularly safe walking there at night. We had a private room which wasn’t particularly clean when we arrived. Really loud random dogs barking at night which made it a bit hard to sleep.
