Brand new room with very comfortable large bed, excellent A/C, armchairs and a table, great shower and toiletries supplied. My room was upstairs in the back, so it was very quiet at night, but i think it's pretty quiet in any case. I ate dinner and breakfast there both days and the food was excellent. I had planned to eat in town the second night, but food was so tasty that i stayed whete I was. I wish my bbq tasted as good as theirs. In the morning, the coffee was strong as the house vodka made by Manat's dad. The house wine was also very tasty. There are private dining rooms for around 6 people and those were justly popular. Although we communicated thru Google translate due to me not speaking Armenian or Russian, that was never a problem and Manat was always on hand to help and to make sure all was well. Despite the language barrier, we got on great and had some good conversations. Staff were also excellent, friendly and helpful and a special shout out to the chefs.. Parking is at the back of the hotel and accessed by a short lane. Somehow, Manat knew i was his guest when i arrived in front and he guided me there. I guess I don't look Armenian. Haha.

    Everything was excellent.

First of all the basics: the building is new; the room was comfortable and clean. The hot water was durable and adjustable. The heater was adequate--sometimes the gas was turned off--but then an electric heater worked as well. The main shops in the center are within walking distance. Logistics: long-distance travel in southern Armenia is not convenient for foreigners because it is difficult to find trustworthy schedules for marshrutkas. The host set up a shared-ride taxi for me from Yerevan, which definitely saved me some stress, and, at the end of my stay, did all the work to get me on the marshrutka to Meghri, including the driving me outside the city limits to the marshrutka stop. I could find no information online in English or Russian that would have helped me get to Meghri by myself at acceptable cost. Furthermore, the host arranged my taxi rides to points outside the city, including Wings of Tatev, and the driver showed up on time. General Hospitality: My situation was exceptional because I stayed for a relatively long time as the only guest during the winter holidays and because I can communicate in Russian. Nonetheless, I had no expectation that I would be invited to have home-cooked dinners with the owners on several occasions, but they invited me and I accepted. I not only got to try authentic Armenian food but also heard some stories about the recent troubles in the region that gave me a clearer understanding of the Armenian perspective. Typically, for me a hotel is just a place to stay, but in this case the hotel itself was an important part of my experience of Goris and of the country.

A small desk or table of normal height for working on a laptop would be an enhancement.

    Property response:

    Thank you

Host very welcoming, kind and hospital - language not a barrier. Good location, parking, fridge and coffee before an early departure.

Very minor, but there was a lack of signage and info meant I did not stay for dinner or know what else was possible.
