Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaIt's not a huge deal, but it is 10-15 minutes by foot to the main downtown area. Did not mind walking, but with luggage, I ubered there and from there to the omnibus terminal. The washrooms were ok, only two showers, one toilet and one urinal on the second floor (men bathroom). The partition between showers is frosted glass, so while you can't see much, anyone in the other shower can see that there is someone using the other shower.
Lovely place, I only stayed one night, and I wish I'd stayed a bit longer. The hostel is nice, well decorated, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was nice, pastries and bread, the kitchen is big so I had no issues preparing some eggs. The staff was very helpful and created a nice, friendly vibe. The heating in winter was great, it was freezing outside but was warm inside my room.

GermanyThe kitchen was excellent! Clean, big, well equipped - unfortunately I just stayed for one night. You could use the washing machine - big bonus! Every single staff member was welcoming you - they let me have breakfast earlier than usual. I loved the garden - nice for Yoga and meditation. My room only had single beds - amazing.

United KingdomNot much! When I arrived there wasn't any toilet paper so I had to buy some and the walls are thin so you can hear music and chatter from downstairs but was fine :)
Great hostel, staff are all really friendly and lovely kitchen and communal space! Was able to use the washing machine for free which was super nice and the beds were very comfy! The breakfast too was a really nice touch :)

GermanyThe beds were a bit too close to each other and on the first floor it was a bit noisy but it was not a big problem. The hostel is not really central but since San Martin is not that big, it's ok :)
Clean and cozy hostel with a relaxed vibe. Big kitchen and eating area. Breakfast was nice.

PortugalI think the bathrooms should be cleaned and inspected more often. There was frequently water on the floor in the upstairs bathroom, small bits of dirt, no toilet paper, etc. The downstairs bathroom & shower were better kept.
The location is pleasant and just a couple minutes walk from the main town centre. The garden is well kept, and the breakfast is great every day. I really liked the people I met and it was easy to make connections with people in the common areas. Everyone was fun and respectful! Overall I really liked it and I would recommend it to others too.

United KingdomBreakfast was a bit basic but it's free so that's okay, could do with including some eggs
Great hostel, with free washing machine (including detergent), a well equipped kitchen, and single beds in many of the dorms. Great value for money!

PortugalTheir curfew started from midnight, and for a small hostel with relatively a lot of people you can hear echos and other noises from the common area and other parts of the hostel. So if you need to check out early in the morning and trying to sleep from 22:00 like we did, if other guests decide to be very noisy downstairs until 00:00, you basically cannot sleep until 00:00. Even with the earplugs I could hear them unfortunately. Also, for some reason the toilet was almost always missing toilet paper every time I went there.. and for only a 1 night stay it’s a lot of times to see it missing.. When walking later at the evening I saw a few homeless people walking around and checking the garbages and staring at me and my stuff, felt a bit like it turns into a dodgy area at night.
Nice small hostel with a nice common area and rooms. Good big lockers and plugs next to beds with shelves. Location is approx 15-20 min walk from waterfront, 10-15 min walk from the Information Center and food places. If you have a car, you need to park on the street. If there is no space near the hostel you need to drive until you find a place to park. The hostel is located in a residential area so the streets around there have free parking (by the time I am writing this comment).

AustraliaThe bathroom has two shower cubicles separated by see through glass, so if two people are showering there is no privacy. The breakfast lacked variety and just consisted on different types of bread

SwitzerlandI am a light sleeper and my bed was above the kitchen, with a very thin floor and walls so I could hear people laughing and music. But it was usually getting quiet around midnight. Mattress were not the best but nothing horrible
The bread served at the breakfast was amazing, so so so good. Even if there was not too much people when I was there, there was an overall good atmosphere. It’s a really cozy hostel. the rooms were comfortable, with a private light and plugs near the bed. Good kitchen

United KingdomThe exchange rate the hostel uses is extremely unfavourable for the guest - our reservation was quoted in US$, but when we paid on arrival in Pesos, the exchange rate they used meant that we paid almost US$6 more (room was originally $45). When I queried this (as I thought there was an extra tax that we didn’t know about or something, I was told the exchange rate they were using). For comparison, we have not encountered any other hostels using this high exchange rate and the exchange rates other places have used have been pretty much as expected. No towels provided in private room. Walls very thin so could hear every conversation in next room, and also down stairs. Be aware that the location is quite a walk from the lake, if you have a car, no problem.
Warm. Bed in private room was comfy. Shared bathroom was clean. Street parking upside (no payment required).
