How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Verified reviewThe key to the room is not working. You have to have an app and connect it to Bluetooth and stuff... It didn't work! I tried to call the host up to 10 times - he didn't answer me. I texted him and there were still no answer! I was in front of the door for about an hour before his sweet neighbour came by to help me. He said "this happens all the time. Nobody can get the key to work." In the end, I tried to knock the door on another of the rooms, and luckily there was another guy in there. I decided just to sleep in that room instead. When the host replied me (at 1AM) he was willing to make me a complete refund... But that never happened eighter... Also, there were ants in the room and the kitchen was so dirty!

Verified reviewThe place is near to Westbanhof station & we were on bikes going into city centre everyday for Impuls Tanz Festival . Working long hours , the apartment gave us peace and relief . There is an excellent Indian Restaurant across the street and shops nearby . It’s an incredible price for Vienna and for those in a budget - ideal
Some of the people living in the building were pretty unfriendly. But that wasn’t the fault of our hosts

Verified reviewAbsolutely nothing good about this place, its staff, the hostel itself, or anything. EXCEPT there was a longer term resident who let me into the hostel and showed me my bed (had he not been there, I would have never gotten in the place - the code I was given after check in was false and I would have had to book a new hostel last minute which I couldn’t afford.) The man who was staying there was very very kind and welcoming, but given that I don’t think he was a worker at all, I can’t say that the staff was any help.

Verified reviewVery good location, nice kitchen, very attentive staff, easy checkin and checkout, good communication.
It can get crowded and when this happens, things can get a bit tricky. Sharing one bathroom and one small kitchen between many people will be difficult, but with a bit of communication, coordination and patience anything can be accomplished.

If you want to have your vacation frustrated, stay here. The room that says it's for 2 people doesn't even fit 2 people standing up, while one person changes clothes the other has to lie down on the bed because there's no space, uncomfortable bed, dirty room, full of dust, I'm allergic and I had to take medicine immediately to be able to sleep, rude cleaning staff, they charge you €100 for insurance that blocks your account which after 15 days has still not been unblocked in my account. To get any response, after sending messages for days in a row, I had to call repeatedly until someone answered the phone and still, they told me they had 67 messages and couldn't respond to them all. I wonder, whose fault is this? Bad management? Anyway, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

I want FULL REFUND!! The access code was not given until the day I was supposed to check out. No one picked up the call and no one responded to any email. I waited in front of the building for almost 2 hours and to find somewhere else to stay. I want my money back since I did not cancel or it was not a no show. The management is very irresponsible.

Verified reviewBeds are nice, you have a locker for yourself, lamp and socket above your bed. Kitchen is also good.
I had check in at 19:30. Didn’get any messages with codes for locker. The owner didnt answer my calls, and I had to wait until 22:30 before the cleaning lady (who was very nice) let me in. Horrible expirience. Even after days I didnt get any apology.

Nightmare hotel . there is no reception , the call was answered but not called back as promised , communications are 0 , the money was not refunded for the reservation, I had to get to another hotel at night!
