How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWonderful place in a beautiful setting. Garden pond is perfect for having a dip after the sauna or soaking the sun. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, the breakfast is superb. We had a super great time.

Verified reviewAbsolutely everything was sublime! The most obvious full score review I've ever given, by far! This was exceptional! At the end of the stay, we planned to travel to the next place, but ended up booking two more nights! Even the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay as pleasant as possible!

Verified reviewPerfect stay as a base for regional visits on a heavy schedule: balcony was fringed with wisteria, large room, spacious, very clean, always space to park, even at peak times, very friendly staff, great breakfast: Very good coffee, everything fresh and a perfectly soft-boiled egg!! Really peaceful and yet central.

Verified reviewThe breakfast is excellent and you don't feel any pressure to hurry. Staff is very friendly and they really like to have well behaved dogs around. I was glad to be aloud to take Cupper in the breakfast area. Each room has a small garden/ terrace. Internet works very well. You can have a drink late in the night and just write down your room number.
I would have liked to let my dog out in the small garden in front of my room. Unfortunately this isn't possible as all these little spaces aren't separated, so your dog can end up disturbing others, plus can easily go directly in the street. I felt sorry for my dog.

We also really enjoyed the sauna.The hosts were attentive, kind and accommodating. And they were even welcoming to our dog, which we truly appreciated. Highly recommended!!

Verified reviewDuring my reservation period, Austria was affected by floods, and I needed to cancel two days of my stay. The owner was very kind and supported the refund. The remaining three days of my stay went very smoothly. The room was clean, quiet, and the view outside was beautiful with plenty of leisure facilities. The breakfast was also excellent. The owner even lent me a bicycle, which made it convenient for me to attend the conference in the neighboring city. It was a very pleasant stay, and I highly recommend this place.

Verified reviewThis is a great hotel garni in an excellent location for touring the Wachau. The Danube, the villages of Mautern and Stein are a 5 to 10 minutes walk away. The rooms are pleasant, the service is very friendly, and the breakfast is excellent. Highly recommended.

Verified reviewA tranquil, beautifully maintained garden with a refreshing natural pool. A friendly and very helpful owner, who was able to recommend some cycling options as well as several places to eat. All the staff were very nice. Very clean and spacious accommodation - we got an upgrade and had a small chalet just for the two of us. Very good breakfast - fresh, tasty and very good choice. We hope to visit again.

Verified reviewThe location was ideal for our activity, cycling the River Danube between Passau and Vienna stopping at small hotels en route. We hadn’t realised the hotel owner had embraced an ethos around bio sustainability, local produce and services but were pleased to have the experience of our stay. The buffet breakfast was one of the best on our trip and consisted very good quality produce. The hotel owner recommended a local restaurant, making no secret of the fact it was part of the vineyard operation owned and run by her family and it too was a truly excellent experience. The owner and staff were a delight to deal with.
Nothing we can think of because everything exceeded our expectations, not just the hotel accommodation, facilities and staff but even the quality and security of the storage for our bicycles being used for our journey.
