How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe had dinner in the hotel restaurant. It was gourmet quality & reasonably priced. Breakfast breakfast buffet offered a great variety of food and drink, in a beautiful spacious garden room. Our room was spacious and most importantly, quiet. Marita, the receptionist, was gracious and helpful. Visitors to Kufstein receive Visitor Cards, which gives free access to the Schloss and other benefits such as bus & gondola rides.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was amazing, the best we'd had on our travels around Austria. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was lovely in the bar area in the evening with the family. The location was easy to find from the train station. The room layout was good, but too hot. The front desk did provide a fan though which was a relief.
Although the bed was comfy, the room was quite noisy on the road even with windows shut. I am a light sleeper, so others may not be affected. I was also surprised there was no kettle/coffee in room as have never stayed anywhere that doesn't provide this. Having checked the details it wasn't listed, so I should have realised this before. It was good to have a mini fridge in the room though.

It is incredible how many problems this hotel has; I have never seen anything like this anywhere, although I have traveled all over the world. First of all, although we repeatedly requested to speak to the manager, this was not allowed. After being assigned a room below the reserved standard, the next day we received the room we paid for. In compensation, we were offered the option of receiving dinner and free parking in the hotel basement. (2 nights). We chose the parking lot. But this promise was not kept either. We managed to park the car only on the first night. The next day we went for a short drive and although we expressly requested at the reception to reserve that spot for us, and the employee assured us that everything was resolved, it was not at all like that. Of course, when we returned all the spots were occupied and we were redirected to the public parking lot, although again it was your fault. So basically the parking space promised as compensation for the discomfort suffered for the first night of non-compliant accommodation, we did not receive it. It was just another scam. Again for this discomfort created we were offered to have dinner for free at the hotel. But… surprise, when we got to the table, after ordering, the waiter told us that dinner must be paid for because we received free parking. ???!!! I just wanted a clean and comfortable hotel room, which I paid for. But it was a total shambles from start to finish. The bed is not comfortable, the room is not very clean, and the bathroom is also dirty. So I do not recommend this hotel.

The room you stayed in corresponded to the booked category. The photos shown on our website are sample images and depict different rooms of this type. We are glad that you were able to switch to your preferred room within the same category the next day. Additionally, before your check-out, you inquired about extending your stay, which indicates that your experience was not entirely unsatisfactory. Regarding the offered compensation, we would like to clarify that you were given the choice between a complimentary parking space or a dinner at the restaurant. Apparently, there was a misunderstanding, as the desire was to receive both free of charge, which was not intended. We regret any confusion this may have caused. We take your criticism about cleanliness and comfort very seriously and will review these issues internally to continuously improve. We understand that your impression is strongly negative but kindly point out that the description of events in your review appears somewhat exaggerated. Hotel is very well prepare and equipped to winter season, so the rooms were very hot on summer and there is not air conditioning, but staff have ventilators to borrow.

Extra fee for parking place; room was quite warm (in the real hot summer weather it must be challenging); the loud bells of the church nearby from the very early morning; in the night, people talking loud below the windows (some bar?) - annoying when you have to have the window open due to warmth... There could be a bottle of water in the room.

Verified reviewReally nice hotel centrally located in the lovely town of Kufstein. Hotel was clean and rooms were a good size with nice sized bathroom (shower only). My room had a little bit of traffic noise at peak times but not enough to worry about. Good breakfast selection with all of the usual hot and cold items you would expect. Staying here made you eligible for a Kufstein Tourist pass so had free access to the castle as well as the Kaiserlift which was great! If staying in Kufstein in future I would definitely stay here again.

Verified reviewVery friendly and attentive staff, especially noticeable at breakfast. Good sized and conventiently furnished room. Bathroom with bright and evenly spread light, with decent size. Shower cubicle a bit bigger than usual, high quality shower system with extra shelve for ones own stuff. Enough storage space and hooks in the bathroom. Very good magnifying mirror. Overall very clean environment. Breakfast selection satisfactory, higher quality of food than average, presentation attractive, clear and with sufficient space for the morning crowd. Quality of coffee ok-ish. Quality of food at the restaurant much better than average, can recommend to dine there.
Some room for improvement and suggestions: Shower base gets very slippery once wet - pay extra attention! No handle to grab on available. No aircon, noise of street too high to leave the window open - once closed sound insulation is good though. Floor carpeted, but not smelly or dirty though.
