Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaIt is an old, traditional house and they unfortunately let it wear in part. We were woken up very early in the morning by activities in the street in front of the house: unloading merchandise, garbage collection, or smth of that kind. The windows do not isolate from the outer noise.
Big appartment. Comfortable beds. Laundry machine - for those interested. Very good breakfast, with local dishes. 7 minutes walk to the Melk Abbey.

HungaryThe staff was busy with the restaurant, so it took some time to get to our room. It is an old building, but it's in the central of the city, perfect location.

SlovakiaParking is horrible - tight squeeze into park place, you have to move two cars to park yours, assistance of habitats required.
Location - right in front of a town hall, in the middle of old time. Couldn't possibly be in a better place.

United StatesParking space is challenging to get into (very tight) - it would be tricky with a larger vehicle. Our bathroom had an old fashioned bathtub with hardly any water pressure. But my husband and son had a great shower. The place is old fashioned and quite simple, so if you do not want a luxury hotel, you will enjoy your stay.
Breakfast was wonderful: a large selection of cheeses, cold cut meat, jams, muesli, nuts, yoghurt, sweet pastry and more...coffee/tea/hot chocolate! Staff was very helpful and kind. Location is brilliant, and the hotel is quaint and charming.

SerbiaThe decorations are rather cheap, but perhaps, it’s fine for a tiny suburban town. I mean, that it’s an old building, and it’s lovely, but then you put red stickers with the room numbers, and ruin the atmosphere. ) I would love to have a kettle in the room, but maybe, there are no kettles in Austrian hotels altogether. But it’s possible to ask for hot water at the cafe at any time.
The location is amazing, right on the main square, and we had a view directly to the abbey wall! Everything is clean and rather comfortable. There was plenty of space in the room. The beds are good. The breakfast was sufficient, and its quality was good.

United KingdomFinding the cafe for the first time can be tricky as the Madar name attaches to a number of eating and drinking places in the town, owned by the same person. This cafe is halfway up a mainly pedestrianised street. Car access only from the top end via one way streets, then a sharp turn through a narrow gateway into the courtyard. Some rooms are located in a separate building off the courtyard, and up a steep staircase. Check in advance if you have mobility issues.
Well equipped rooms in a character building, in a character street with a dramatic backdrop. Small private parking in a courtyard behind the cafe. Evening meal available in busy friendly restaurant across the street.

Very speedy and helpful service at check in. Excellent, attentive and friendly service from Allison in the breakfast room. She's an asset to your hotel. CanadaThey didn’t refill the food fast enough. Their croissants were delicious, but we could eat only 1. We asked if they will refill them soon, and they answered they had to bake.
Location is perfect, it’s right in the center of downtown of Melk. We had the abbey view from our room. All restaurants and shops are around the property, well the property has its own restaurant too. The room is cute, a true country side style of room. Comfortable and clean. They change towels every day. The buffet breakfast is very good. Lots of choices. The personnel is courteous. By the way, the facade of the property is very charming, everybody took pictures when they passed by.

BelgiumNo fly Screens! No lock up bike garage. No AC. Older style TV. As it was hot we had to open our window and there was a SUPER LOUD band playing nearby - FAR TOO LOUD until FAR TOO LATE! Killed the experience and the open window and lack of proper noise isolation made it worse.
Great location and well kept room and premises. Ok restaurant on site. REALLY nice and helpful/accommodating staff.
