How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff was incredible friendly and made me feel at home. The room was aboslutely incredible and it made me want to stay there instead of go out! And the breakfast, that was also very well done and they make your eggs to order. Fantastic all around! This has to be one of the best B&B places I've stayed.

Verified reviewThis hotel was located in such an isolated part of Salzburg that I loved it. The rooms were clean and big with all possible facilities provided. The breakfast was really nice all the freshly prepared food. Especially the stay became even nicer as the hosts were really helpful and friendly. They also gave us free mobility tickets for transportation. One should keep in mind that as the hotel is located in the outskirts of the main city, the walk to/from the nearest bus stop is a little uphill/downhill (but a very short distance). I am looking forward to visiting Salzburg again and also planning on staying here again. :)
Nothing at all.

Verified reviewGenuinely lovely welcoming hosts, beautiful home and location, incredibly spacious rooms, excellent choice of food at breakfast, gorgeous dog, felt like an amazing home rather than an accomodation. We had the room with a balcony and made the most of the view each morning and evening. The room is massive and the photos are accurate, but it still exceeded our expectations. We arrived by car and appreciated the free parking onsite. Re comments in other reviews...yes it's a steep drive but we are on a hill, so totally expected, wear sensible shoes =) Bus stop at the top of the drive takes you straight in to town and the free bus vouchers were greatly appreciated, so we left the car and used public transport. Would love to come back here again and can highly recommend.

Verified reviewLoved everything about our stay! Caroline and her husband are wonderful. They are caring hosts that go out of their way to help you. The room was very comfortable, the patio was great and the breakfast was delicious. Transit is very close by. We would highly recommend staying here.
For anyone with mobility issues, the walk to the transit stop is short but steep.

Without a car you had to rely on the bus to get anywhere as the property is secluded

Verified reviewBeautiful property and views. Lovely friendly hosts, great selection at breakfast. Clean and tidy property. Great location, free local bus with stay. We had a hire car, free parking at property, was easy to drive into Salzburg and Hallstatt for the day. Just get to carparks early!
A mini fridge in room would be handy for drinks and snacks we bought. Otherwise, no complaints!

Verified reviewThe hosts were wonderful, very helpful and quick to respond to any emails. The location was a little outside of the main town but was beautiful. However, note that it is at the bottom of a very steep hill so make sure you're in shape!

Verified reviewA spotlessly clean accommodation. The room exceeded our expectations, it was so tastefully decorated, so beautiful. The accommodation was larger than expected. The bed was so comfortable and we slept so well. The location is stunning, with an amazing sunset at the back of the house too. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast is outstanding. We were even given an early breakfast on our departure day, thank you kindly. We took the recommendation of a bus to see the lakes and mountains (from the bus stop near the hotel). Easy to get to & from the city by bus. Takes 10 minutes. If you like Indian food, we highly recommend, The Taj Mahal, we ate there 2 out of 3 evenings. Go early or pre-book as it was full each time. You will have a magical stay here at this location, we did. For info. We booked a BOLT taxi to return to the airport, it took 18 minutes and cost 30 euros.
Leaving!!

Verified reviewCaroline and Roland were wonderful hosts. So attentive and informative! Beautiful home and delightful people! We will be back! While not located in the city center, access to the bus was super convenient (with a short but strenuous uphill walk).

Verified reviewTruly amazing guest house with an long history (former mill), unique in its kind. Very beautiful both outside and inside. The rooms are spacious and cozy, and most importantly, they are immaculately clean and fresh. Special thanks to the hostess Caroline for the warm welcome, help in all questions and, of course, for the delicious and varied breakfasts.
The only thing we can regret is that we didn't stay here longer.
