The best welcoming people at the reception, bar, restaurant, even the cleaning lady. The whole setup of the hotel is lovely and cozy. Very comfortable and clean room, the whole facility was very well thought through and welcoming. Offered 4-course dinner was very tasty and beautifuly shown on the plate. The wellness part could stay open for a bit longer.

This property is a gem in the area. It's a small, customer-oriented business that fulfills every wish, ensuring perfect comfort for everyone. The restaurant is also excellent, with truly delicious food. I must also mention the hotel's style, which embodies everything I love about the Austrian countryside. They've preserved and renovated the traditional buildings and furniture, keeping the authentic style of the place. It's absolutely awesome.

I don't know a good solution but saunas tend to be popular in the evenings after skiing so there might be a few people to take turns with. But we still managed to alternate with others and make use of the amazing saunas.

We loved everything! It's close to the slopes (about 10 min drive). We loved our room, the dinners, the sauna (Finnish and steam), the staff were welcoming, helpful and always available. There is also a heated ski room. When I asked we found out this is a family-run hotel since several generations. Thank you for having us! I've stayed in perhaps 30 hotels in various countries and this was a special and memorable experience. Would definitely stay here again.

Maybe the only thing that was not perfect are the pillows but it might be comfortable for others.

The staff was extremly kind and helpful. The hotel is very nice and tidy and has a great location. We enjoyed the Sauna and the wellnes area a lot. The breakfast was very nice with lots of choices. The dinner is excellent value for money. It is also great that there is an EV charger right in front of the hotel (not for free but a possibility to charge the EVs).

We travelled by train and taxi, and I didn’t realise the lack of infrastructure for getting around. I would rent a car the next time for sure, to make life easier.

Super stay, really enjoyed it and staying in Hochkar. Didn’t realise it was a bit cut off with just a few taxis in the region (for getting to the train etc), and only an ATM for cash in Göstling. We travelled by train and didn’t have cash and needed it. Very elegant environment with a traditional look. Well conceived food, peaceful spa. Dagmar is wonderful and very accommodating. Not sure I would bring noisy kids here - defo felt that it leant more to adults, though they did have a toy box etc, and the wait staff were very nice to our 5 year old. Beautiful location, would definitely go back - but I would think twice about bringing our younger child here as the environment is very hush hush, and more geared to adults who will find peace, cosyness, tranquility, comfort, good food and amazing nature around.

We have already visited the region several times but without having an accommodation there. This time we chose a hotel just in the valley, where all interesting places are located around within 10 km. We were attracted by the Hochkar mountain and both the Wasserlochklamm and the Gams bei Hieflau waterfalls. The Fahrnberger hotel is a nice building already from outside and a reasonably big parking is located in front of the building. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, although we do not speak German (they also fluently speak English). We were accommodated in a nice, separate building near the main hotel building. We like the style how the hotel is equipped: it is a local Austrian natural design but providing the maximum comfort. We felt like we were on our honeymoon there. In the evening we enjoyed a great Riesling white wine in the hotel lounge. The four poster bed, located in our big and amazing room, provided a very pleasant environment in the night. The bathroom with a shower was also big and comfortable. The toilet was in a separate room. In the morning we have a nice mountain view from the window of our room. The breakfast was very tasty and we also enjoyed sitting places in front of the hotel to absorb the atmosphere of the Alps mountains. We left the hotel totally satisfied and the price for the accommodation seems to us very adequate. For sure, we plan to return there in the future.
