How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewClose to the U-bahn so pretty accessible. The little kitchen and the fridge were great, we made our own breakfast and bought stuff from Penny (the market). The bread on the Turkish market on the corner was phenomenal, though. Loved the blackout curtains and that check-in details were given to us promptly.
There was only one working shower and one toilet for 10 people. On some nights, when we walked to the hostel, it didn't feel very safe as there were groups of young men loitering in the park. At one night one of the men followed us, thankfully I had my partner. I would say if you're a solo female traveller, be extra vigilant.

Verified reviewIt was comfortable, each bed had it's own privacy, and they provided storage below the bed with keys. You should still take your own padlock if you need more storage space and plan to use the lockers. Staff came almost every day to clean shared spaces, but it was more surface cleaning. More focus should probably be in the toilet area as some people (men*) pee on the toilet floor without cleaning after themselves. (This part was disgusting!)
There's only 1 toilet and 2 showers shared by both rooms (10 beds). Also, the kitchen is right next to the toilet & showers. Very weird layout, so be prepared for being uncomfortable. In my bunk (no 6), the charging spot above the bed was not fixed to the wall, so it was annoying all night, especially as I moved around a lot while sleeping. The screws of the storage provided under the bed were loose/broken, and I struggled using it. They should focus on doing checkup and repairs around the beds, too. The kitchen is okay, but it doesn't have storage containers if you'll rather cook than eat out every day. Bring your own!

Verified reviewThis hostel was great for 2 days, I would say. The kitchen is nice and equipped, the lockers are big enough (you need your own padlock for them), and the bed curtains give you as much privacy as possible in such a setting. The location is pretty nice, it's right on the U2 line, and there are shops nearby.
I think 2 toilets and 1 bathroom for 10 people is not really enough. The wifi was really inconsistent. It's also pretty noisy outside, so I would recommend earplugs to make sleeping a bit easier. The code to enter should also be sent ahead of time.

Verified reviewVery close to a grocery store.
1. My first experience with a hostel. I saw on the website description that towels will be provided. So I did not bring my own. When I get there, I found a blanket for bed but for towels for the bathroom. I had to buy a towel myself. 2. Very close to street. Windows were left open all the time. The room was noisy and cold.

Verified reviewThe property was conveniently located near a metro station (Vörgtenstraße) and a bus stop. The door access key was provided on the day of arrival, making check-in and entry seamless. The rooms were clean and well-equipped with lockers, hangers, an iron, and individual sleeping pods featuring charging sockets and reading lights. The kitchen was spacious, well-equipped, and had ample seating to comfortably enjoy meals.
There’s a combined toilet-and-shower area, plus a separate shower room serving up to ten people (six in one section and four in the other), so you may have to wait your turn.

Verified reviewThe location
Almost everything. 1. The air circulation was poor. The unit has two connected rooms. In total, it has a 10-person capacity, and it smelled when all the guests were inside. 2. There was only one toilet and two showers for both rooms, which wasn't enough, particularly in the morning. I once found a guest peeing in the shower because the toilet was occupied. 3. The unit was dirty, particularly the bathrooms. 4. Usually, a hostel with a kitchen gives guests free food or at least salt, sugar, and pepper. But there was nothing. No free food in the kitchen, only expired food and tea. 5. No reception. I once locked outside because the key code didnt work, maybe because the battery was low, and there was no manual key to open the door. I tried to get a solution from the reception, but she only said to wait and keep knocking. She didnt want to come till another guest called and naged at her 6. The pillow was hard and uncomfortable

Verified reviewEverything was great. I was lucky enough to have the place to myself so that was awesome. They’re very responsive to my inquiries also. Their kitchen is complete with utensils so you can cook if you want to save money from eating outside. Overall this is a great place.
It’s on the main road so it can be a bit loud from the cars outside but nothing a pair of buds can’t fix.

Verified reviewNice value for money, clean space in a nice location with shared kitchen space and two bathrooms. There is no door between the two rooms, so it is basically a 10-bed spaced partially partitioned into 6 beds and 4 beds. Shower only lukewarm rather than hot.
