How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe stayed in room number 13. Unfortunately, the room was very brightly lit at night due to the street and hotel lights, which attracted many spiders on the window and behind the curtains. We informed the hotel owner by phone during the night, but he told us that since this was a three-star hotel, we could not expect cleanliness and were free to leave at any time. Later, his son came by and remarked that spiders were useful and that he personally had nothing against them. Of course we didn’t leave. Apart from this incident and the very worn-out, soft mattresses, the stay was otherwise fine. The breakfast, prepared by Daniela Ulrich’s daughter, was very good and plentiful. However, given the overall experience, we would not return.

Verified reviewEvery place you look at, is tasteful. Really well arranged, even when I usually am not excited of such things, this surrounding outside and inside the hotel was really nice set. The room is well equipped, everything is on hand.
One of the nights spent on hotel, there was some event with music, pub or something like it and it was in front of the hotel and the people were really very noisy walking on the street the whole night. It was never-ending and that night it was not able to sleep. And one small issue - the towels are better provided as folded not spread out at the radiator, it seems that somebody has used them, then.

Verified reviewFrom all the hotels I used over the years, especially at the "family-run" category, this has some very unique design characteristics in regard with the decorations and the whole yard & hallways setup. One can see here not only the Austrian taste for elegant design, but also the care to details and arrangements of decorations. The room itself was clean, beds comfortable, with towels & everything to expect from a hotel. WiFi available and running fine, breakfast in a separate room with its own ambiance and some basics (cereals, milk, tea, bread, cold cuts, butter, jam, etc..) Hotel's own free parking places (outdoor, not covered) are accessible from the Gmundner Strasse, not from the front of the hotel (Stadtplatz) - so take care of this with the GPS.
For the category of this hotel and the price paid, there is nothing to complain about.

Verified reviewLocation is right on the town's main street. The bed was comfortable and the showers were hot. Internet worked great. Rooms are very spacious. The women serving breakfast are especially welcoming, kind, and helpful.
A bit of road noise overnight with windows open. No fan provided.

Verified reviewVery nice service, very clean, positive and helpful staff. Great location, beautiful view from the balcony. Though the check-in starts at 3 p.m., we arrived at midday and immediately received the key from our room. We came with the dog, and there were no extra charges, which is a pleasant surprise 😀. Friendly staff, nice breakfast, all in all very pleasant stay.
Everything was perfect, no complaints at all

Verified reviewClearly staff and ownership take a lot of pride in their property. Immaculately decorated, kind staff, clean and peaceful. Plenty of parking, quaint garden, nicely renovated.
WiFi in the room was not strong enough. Entrance into the hotel with so many properties and entrances with different shops under ownership was confusing and signage could be improved.

Verified reviewBig free parking.. that's practically all
Very noisy room - bar/cafe is just next to the hotel and people are partying till late night. Quite low standards on cleaning (toilet seats should be cleaned/changed as they are dirty, hairs on the walls in the showers etc.). Breakfast - I was never so limited with space available for my plate. Very small area for breakfast. As for food - it was the first time when I felt the need to ask for food at the breakfast. Usually it is either buffet or personnel should ask, what food guest wants to be served, from the hotel's offer of course. For us only cold cuts (ham, cheese) with literally 2 slices of cucumber and 3 cherry tomatoes sliced in halves, coffee, juice and bread were offered by default, nothing hot/warm, however other people had boiled eggs, yoghurts etc. Strange service. Beds are very small, not for tall people, as well as the small/short blankets.

Verified reviewFriendly and attentive staff; lovely and spacious apartment.
The most minor of quibbles but perhaps a better selection of breakfast cereals - ie muesli rather than only granola, some dried fruits and more fresh fruit.

Verified reviewBig spacious room (a little dated). Good kitchen was a pleasant surprise. Also good parking onsite. Smooth self check-in with good communication. Excellent breakfast and our morning host was fantastic!
Difficult to close curtains fully to cut out street light. Wifi was very patchy and erratic.
