How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewReally magnificent and clean rooms. My dream was to spend time in real monks chamber and I got it. Atmosphere is fantastic and personnel is great and friendly. One can of course have a room from some other hotel but then he missed a experience of life time.. I love that place.
All was superb!

Verified reviewLocation is an absolute highlight, terrific views, plenty of history, excellent refuge for switching off from day to day life. Very professional management, a small misunderstanding we had was resolved quickly and efficiently, customer service was very comforting, the staff gets our highest marks for this. The rooms are all located in a historical building, not TV or phone is allowing you to relax, however they will leave you your cellphone in case you need something. :) Beds surprisingly comfortable, at least for us it was so. We missed our breakfast due to very poor discipline as we like to sleep till midday, but the terrace on which they serve the breakfast is amazing and provides stunning views on Wachau Krems region, we always visit it to relax with a glass of great wine from Stift Göttweig winery. So even if you miss your breakfast, do not skip the terrace.
Better photo information onsite to understand what you will be booking exactly could be helpful, but this is a minor issue. Otherwise nothing.

Verified reviewThe location is amazing, to wake up there is one of the most relaxing feeling that I got.
The uphill to the location was much more steep and demanding in effort that I was expecting. I was there with a bike, and this was not an easy ride there. It is not so much a negative as something you need to know.

Verified reviewExceptional abbaye you must visit with Museum and peacefull garden along the Danube R1 bicycle road. They produce delicious apricot marmelade and liquor but also wine and have a nice shop. I advise you to book a room for one night as they have gasthaus residence. Also an excellent restaurant. Garage for bikes with power load is available. You will get a spiritual and nice experience.

Verified reviewThe location in the Abbey, the stillness and quietness of the sleeping areas, the facilities for guests, safe parking, lovely breakfast with a visit from the monks to greet you, all made our stay magical.
The WiFi is OK in the rooms, it could be stronger. There was no WiFi in the restaurant not even for guests of the monastery.

Verified reviewThe view is amazing. Would suit more for anyone who needs tranquility and need an escape from a busy life style. The surroundings are wonderful. Staff was helpful friendly. Super clean rooms. Fairly good breakfast on the breathtaking terrace. Can easily communicate in English. Couple of cities to visit around including short cruise on the Danube river.
It is definitely not in the competitive hospitality business. Provides only the most basic facilities in the room. They have mostly rooms with no view. But of course there are many places if you need to enjoy the view other than the room. But the fact that they advertise rooms with view is a bit misleading. If the price can be adjusted to the facilities or improve on the facilities a bit would be great.

Verified reviewIt was simply perfect! Very clean, quite, friendly staff. Very pieceful in the evening.
There is no public transport on the weekend. I asked some people to drop me there. The restaurant is open until 18pm. Think to take some food with you for the evening.

Dinner isn't available after 6pm. In summer that's really too early to lose access to food.

Verified reviewOur stay was such a beautiful experience 😍 The room was huge, clean and comfortable. The abbey, its gardens, the panorama around it were perfect to enjoy on a sunny day. We loved the self-made drinks. The restaurant was also good, the breakfast - fresh and rich.
One of the ladies at the reception was not very friendly but all the other staff were great.

Verified reviewThe setting is in a historical building and it is fantastic. The room is simple but tastefully decorated and super clean. The view is amazing.
It is on the expensive end considering what I have paid. There is no water boiler, coffee or tea in the room. Basically one just sleeps in there.

Verified reviewAmazing place with a great atmosphere! The monastery is situated on a hill with stunning views of the surroundings, the rooms were adequate and clean. There's an option to use the shared kitchenette and seating in the common room. Very good and rich breakfast, which we enjoyed on the absolutely divine terrace with a fabulous view! You can also purchase monastery beer or wine. We will definitely be happy to return here.
