Staying at Goldene Wachau was the experience of a lifetime and worth every single one of the 20 hours it took us to get to Europe. From the moment we arrived, Georg and Geraldine made us feel like family. Their warmth, kindness, and incredible local knowledge turned our trip into something far more special than we ever imagined. Every recommendation, from the breathtaking places to visit to the unforgettable food to try, was spot on. Breakfast each morning was pure joy—homemade with such care and love that words can’t do it justice. It was something to savour and remember. The guesthouse itself is stunning: luxurious yet welcoming, immaculately presented, and filled with so many unique treasures that we found ourselves noticing something new and beautiful each day. We leave with full hearts, already planning our return, and feeling genuinely sad to go. Goldene Wachau isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience we will carry with us forever.

Gabriele & Georg were the highlight of the trip! They took the time to give us many recommandations in the area and made us an incredible breakfast (and sandwich for lunch!). We wished we would've stayed longer. The house is beautiful and worth a visit. You won't be disapointed!

We traveled from Germany, and on arrival, even if late, we were expected with an open fire, glass of wine and the room was amazing. The owners are very friendly, and the place is organized with great taste. You feel like you’re visiting old friends.

Amazing hosts who went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. We were cycling the Danube and with recent flooding the cycle path was closed on a section. Our host offered solutions which included taking us and our bikes to the next destination. We did find another way but big wow to our hosts removing all the stress.

Gabriele and Georg were incredibly invested and enthusiastic hosts who also gave us invaluable tips for our short stay. Their 400 year old beautifully rennovated house is full of antique treasures. The house is directly by the Danube with two small swimmable beaches right there.

I was happy to pay but we didn't know how much the wine and beer was and the breakfast. You can add a little honesty note next to the fridge with the prices and the guest can write down what they take. Just mention the price of the breakfast before making a delicious meal.

The owner gave us great recommendations for activities to do in the area. We highly appreciated the evening walk to the ruins.

Location near Danube, fantastic view from the room and terrace. Very comfortable apartment, with lot of sun and spirit. Bathroom nice settled. George was very helpful with his suggestions and advices. Breakfast was great.

Host was so accommodating and congenial- we enjoyed our conversations and his research to answer our questions. He had a parting gesture that was an extra positive touch with a complimentary coffe/tea service. The rooms were spacious and tastefully decorated. Fireplace in communal living room added a cosy ambiance on a damp day. So many likes about this stay- they thought of everything.
