How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Unorganized staff, we had to move rooms unannounced in the middle of our stay and staff was going through our things and moving our things to another room without asking. When confronting them it was made sound like our fault and we had to sacrifice half of our ski day to accommodate a mistake made by the hotel. As an apology we got 5 cookies. Probably one of the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had.
Dear Mr Oliver, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you had to do a room change during your stay. Your booking was for 2 different room types so it was booked with a room change. Our rooms division manager aimed to advise you on arrival that you would only have to move on the last night. We apologise that this was not communicated clearly enough. We do have such room moves fairly regularly and have a protocol on how those are handled. Some guests prefer to pack their things, others have us move all the items for them. As we constantly strive to improve ourselves, we have now adapted this protocol to add a reminder to the guests the evening before the room move. As you know we also did try to contact you in the morning both in your room as well as on your cell phone but were unsuccessful. When we had not been able to reach you by the afternoon and the new guests that were supposed to check in to that room had already arrived, we had no other choice but to start preparing the room move, since we of course need time to clean the room and prepare it for the new arrival. We always have a manager present for room moves and never have just one person handle a room move alone to assure that all items are safely transferred. We found further items of yours even after you had packed and also moved those to your new room. It is never pleasant to have to move during a stay but we had hoped that our complementary plate of home-made Christmas cookies and home-made pralines as an apology would show that we are sorry for not communicating the room move more effectively. Again, we apologise for the inconvenience caused due to the room move. We hope to be able to welcome you back to the Hotel Goldener Berg sometime and would love to offer you a personal consultation before so that we can be assured to choose the best room category for you. Verified reviewI was staying at the hotel for the weeding of my son. I was please with the hotel facilities, the room and the wellness area. You can see that someone was thinking when they did the design. The rooms are amazing the restaurant are fine but the wellness is outstanding.
Outdoor pool can be a bit hotter for me. Table setup for our weeding a little tight.

Verified reviewThe clean and warm space and the friendly, cheerful and polite staff made for a very comfortable stay. The hotel is warm and there is a heated pool, so you can enjoy it even in winter. The food is healthy and delicious, so you won't get bored even if you stay several nights. The gondolas operate until 1am, so you won't have any trouble.

Coffee machine (extra charge) and tea maker can be ordered in advance to your room. Perhaps we did not communicate this correctly, for which I sincerely apologise. It is of course difficult for us to estimate the price of meals in the restaurant. You have already chosen the best option with bed and breakfast. Here you can choose individual dishes if you are not very hungry. For 63,- p.p. you can book half board and you have a 5 course meal included. We are always interested in optimising our products and food. Please let us know by e-mail which inexpensive dishes you would like to have. If you walk from the outside, the route is much shorter. We do not have water in the YOGA room, but at the SPA reception, which is free of charge. The YOGA room does not currently have a suitable shelf. However, after this winter season we will renovate and extend the whole SPA including the YOGA room. Verified reviewThe staff is amazing, so hospitable and the service is so personalized! Spa is fantastic, we especially loved sitting in the outside jacuzzi watching the snow come down (protected under a roof overhang:) with the strong therapeutic jets to ease your tired ski muscles.
The temperature in the hotel, especially in the rooms and the panorama restaurant is way too high, it must have been locked at 28 degrees!!! Made for a poor night’s sleep unfortunately:( and we had to keep the balcony door open just to have an icy draft. Maybe it’s their floor heating as you can’t control the heat from the room (turning the radiators down didn’t affect it) but they need to do something about this problem. I really want to go back to this lovely hotel, but sadly probably won’t as I know I won’t get a good night’s sleep :((

With regard to the temperatures in the hotel, it is true that it gets very warm from time to time. As a result, the hotel is very well insulated in winter and heats up automatically in summer. In fact, we only started heating on 28 November. However, we have taken your criticism to heart and are already considering how we can resolve this issue in future. This process will of course take time. But we can already tell you that the next time you come, you will find a completely new spa and whirlpool. Verified reviewAll of the food options were excellent, definitely don’t miss the Austrian restaurant nor the Alter Goldener Berg for traditional fondue. Breakfast is also excellent. Most importantly, the entire staff was genuinely attentive and beyond responsive to any requests or needs. I cannot recommend highly enough.
If I have to be picky, the walk from the gondola can be slippery (but you can always use the indoor tunnel) and the overall indoor temperature was bit warm (but we just opened windows). That said, don’t let either of these nitpicks dissuade you from this incredible hotel.
