Great family holiday in comfortable apartment

The usual road up to Fendels from the valley (Prutz) was closed. The detour is a very unpleasant and inconvenient semi-dirt road which is only open for 5 minutes an hour. This was highly inconvenient (though we were informed by the hosts well beforehand and this is obviously outside of their control). Luckily, the cable car offers a viable alternative and throughout most of our time in Fendels, we would just park the car in Ried and take the cable car up instead of driving to Fendels. Still, given that there are no shops in Fendels, doing groceries etc. required some planning. Some other minor remarks: the dishes in the cupboards were not very clean and needed to be washed prior to use. There is some noise from the neighbouring apartments.

We really enjoyed our stay at Haus Heidrun in Fendels The apartment was very comfortable and is equipped with everything you could reasonably expext. We could make use of the beautifully maintained garden which was a very nice bonus. My kids really enjoyed the outside space and the ping-pong table which the hosts kindly made available to us. The house is located more or less centrally in the village, and is conveniently close to the chairlift (up to Sattelklause) and the cable car (down to Ried). Fendels is a small village without many facilities which means it's relatively calm and not overrun by tourists (unlike villages such as Serfaus). This also means you will have to get your bread, groceries and other supplies elsewhere though. The host provided the Sommercard. We invested some extra money to upgrade to the sommercard gold which gives access to numerous chairlifts and cablecars in the area as well as free access to the amazing glacier road in the adjacent Kaunertal. For us it was totally worth it.
