How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWas right in middle of old town, easy 15 walk from station Booked a 2 bedroom apartment. Second bedroom was like a dorm room. Way too small for 2 adults. The rest of the apartment was lovely and spacious. Close to supermarket. Noisy on the street

Verified reviewThe apartment was in the city center's pedestrian zone and had two bedrooms, a living room, and big windows with a view of the main street and mountains. It was clean, and the fans were enough in August, so I didn't miss AC. Check-in was easy. Parking was a 5-minute walk away and cost 17 euros a day. I had to drag my luggage on arrival, but I could bring my car to the hotel for checkout before 10 am. Apartment had a lift
I was able to cook proper meal, but it could have a few more pots, lids, and fry pans.

Verified reviewSpace, light, high ceilings and it was in the centre of Innsbruck I.e. very good access to shops/bakeries/transport. Restaurant below offered fabulous food. A 10-15 min walk to the train station. Communication from the team was great.
The bunkbed setting for 2 adults (we were 4 adults and 2 adults could share a king bed, 2 had to use the bunk beds). That was disappointing. Also didn’t like that tea bags and/or instant coffee were not supplied. We arrived in the evening and needed to dash for supplies before shops closed (and shops close early!). We weren’t keen on the bathtub in the bedroom either but that’s just our personal preference.

Verified reviewThe location is great, in the middle of the busy old town. The area of the apartment is large enough for 6 persons. The apartment is clean and equipped with the kitchen utensils. HOWEVER, No AC , they gave us a fan BUT was with noisy sound
The check out was early at 10:00 am and I think it was a first time for me, usually it’s 11:00 . Supposed the apartment has a mountain view BUT they gave us low level and there was a building under construction, they started working at 6:00am making high noise, even with closed windows ( hot and can’t open windows) . When we discussed with the manager, he was so rude and impolite said” this is what we have, do whatever you want “

Staff was rude. They made an error at check-in and demanded we return, while we were at dinner, for them to fix their mistake. Upon returning, they complained we took too long to come back. Also, there was construction outside our window that the property did not inform us about. We were awoken every day at 6:00am with loud construction noise. It would have been nice to have been informed of this prior to check in.

Regarding the check-in, we would like to clarify: in your booking, all three children were entered as being zero years old. This created a system error that we only noticed upon arrival. We corrected the booking but unfortunately forgot to charge the additional fee right away. This was our mistake, and we sincerely apologize. Since we needed to finalize the payment on the same day, we asked you to return for a moment. You mentioned you would come back in about 30 minutes. After 1.5 hours, we called again, and you informed us you would only return around 11 p.m. We therefore kindly asked if you could come a bit earlier, which you eventually did. Please understand that it was never our intention to appear impolite – we only wanted to ensure that the booking was settled correctly. Concerning the construction works, we are very sorry that this disturbed you during your stay. Unfortunately, the works were beyond our control, but we acknowledge that we should have informed you beforehand. Please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience. We visited second week of August. It was really hot weather and apartment wasnt having AC. It was really uncomfortable. Secondly, having the experience staying in other apartments throughout Europe, it was surprising to see that staff did not kept basic things like salt, sugar,oil and cleaning cloth in the kitchen.

Ridiculously enormous TV right in the middle of the room spoilt the spacious room Way too hot / no aircon / inadequate curtains / blinds Builders next door started work (right outside our window!) at 6am each morning!

During your stay in July, the temperature was around 24 °C, which is considered unusually warm for us. We are sorry that you were disturbed by the nearby construction work – unfortunately, we have no control over external building projects.
