How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The carpet was old and stained.

It was not properly clean and the information on the parking was not properly communicated beforehand. The parking needs ti be additionally paid (19 euros per day) and is available only if you are lucky and they have spots left.
The location is very good, stuff is friendly and there was an option to store the lagguage.

The receptionist female with hair braids was aggressive, racist with bad attitude. I arrived at 1pm , she refused to make shake in the room, she said even if there is ready rooms,shake in will be at 3pm.Also ,she said the room is not paid yet, ...I showed her the receipt of payment, she said it isn't accepted and I must pay again. Thanks God, I came back at 3pm,she was replaced by nice receptionist called Mohamed, he said that the room was already paid

The room needs to be renovated, it was not bad but old furniture and carpet.
Location is good easy to go to city center. Check in was very quick. Room was clean. Safe was new. TV

There wasn't any air conditioning in the room and it was too hot. A fan was provided, but all that did was blow hot air around the room! There wasn't any tea or coffee making facilities. There weren't any plug sockets near the bed-heads to charge phones, etc.

Much better than what people mention in reviews. It was clean, well maintained and a short walk to downtown. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodated us to check in early.

Pillows were flat, bed was hard like a board. We asked for extra pillows and got 2 more flat ones. There was no cleaning done in the 15 days we were there, only fresh towels when we asked for the room to be done every few days. We had a patio, but it looked into the rooms of the next hotel. Vending machine in the lobby was pretty empty. Tried to leave the patio door open at night, but the street noise was too loud. A fan would have been nice, as it gets quite warm with no A/C. With the main hotel across the street, it feels as though this location is a bit neglected.

big road construction right in front of the hotel, very loud constant noise level from early in the morning on, this fact not mentioned at all check-in at an affiliated hotel across the street

The place appeared unmaintained. Whole building especially our bed room had over powering smell of baby powder or something that we had to keep our bedroom windows open the whole time to air it out. The curtain rod was coming off the wall and AC was not working.
The location was walking distance to the sights we were interested in.

Room was rather basic and a bit dowdy. A bit hot and stuffy even in May; might be uncomfortable in summer. Less expensive than many hotels in Salzburg, but still not amazingly good value by wider Austrian or German standards.
Good location a few minutes' walk from the Old Town, just the other side of a dramatic tunnel cut through the cliffs. Bus stop just outside with easy connections to main railway station. Fairly helpful staff on duty at reception.
