How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Nothing water in the room , the tax should be paid by cash , no elevator , Will never come again
Sorry, maybe you have not seen the bathroom??? There is endless drinking water in the room. In your confirmation you get the information, that the city tax has to be paid on spot in cash. Next time when you book a room cross the icon - elevator!

Verified reviewThe room was basic but clean. The shower was lovely. The breakfast was really nice with lots of choice. It was a small hotel but a good location. Staff were friendly.
The hotel was quite dated but this gave it a unique feel.

Verified reviewThe room is very small. Not worth of money. I spent 300 euros for 2 nights and got a small room. No Restaurants near the property and you cannot order food online.
You booked the cheapest category - a small double room, which it explains by itself. Even when you got the reservation confirmation the title of the room is "small double room". What do you expect then? The president suite?? There are 4 different types of restaurants within 5 minutes to walk, why did you not ask at the reception. Bad Ischl is a small city and it is not my fault that there is no food delivery service! So for me it is ridiculous to write such an commend!

Verified reviewThe hotel is located in a nice place, it is calm but close to the bus stop to explore the lakes nearby. There are shops and a bakery close to it.
The smell in the toilet was very bad, and the room might be cleaner.

Verified reviewThe hostess was lovely and very accomodating. The room was cleaned everyday and the property is on the main bus route making it easy to get around. There was also a love river to walk into Bad Ischl or somewhere to cool off in!
I didn’t have breakfast because I felt it was too expensive for me (plus I am a pain as I have allergies)

Verified reviewThe room is clean and tidy, location is okay.
The attitude of staff is very bad. The gate of the hotel is locked in the evening at some point. So if you go out in the midnight you might not be able to get into the hotel which is ridiculous. The room is very warm, bad ventilation, no aircon and no fan, so if the temperature happens to be high, you will suffer.
Sorry, if you leave the hotel without the room key after midnight - it's your own fault! Even the hotel info says to take the room key after 10 p.m.! Like in any other hotel in Austria! And because of your own fault, that bad commend, very poor of you!!!

Verified reviewThe owner was very nice. It felt like visiting friends and staying in their daughter`s room while she was at summer camp 😊 I really felt like staying in a home rather than a hotel. Someone might feel better in a huge anonymous hotel but I like it better this way. The location was perfect. Close to a main road so it was easy to find and to get around, yet not too close so the noise of the road didn't bother me. At night with windows wide open I couldn`t hear the road at all. View of the mountains all around and meadow or pastures right behind the fence. A restaurant and shops within walking distance. One could quite easily walk about 2 km on a path along the river to Bad Ischl. (I walk the same distance to work, so I know it's doable). Both bathroom and bedroom had large windows that could be wide open for fresh air. It was very clean and the bathroom seemed to be recently renovated. An electric kettle with a cup was provided. And I appreciated a "normal" hair dryer, rather than the usual hotel type. The lack of AC didn't bother me because my room was north facing and one could open the windows once it cooled down in the evening. I can't speak for the southern side though. As I said, at night it was very quiet (once the church bells stopped chiming, luckily they didn't go all night). The bed was 140 cm wide and comfortable. Breakfast was a standard buffet I would say, I didn't expect salmon mousse or caviar, so no disappointment there. And again the owner was very helpful. Parking on the premises with no problems finding a free spot.
The mattress was a bit too soft for my back, but that's just a personal preference. The only thing that prevented me from having a good night`s sleep were mosquitos because I sleep with my windows open. I was very careful not to have the lights on and used the net curtains but they still found their way in. But obviously that's not the hotel`s fault and one does not have this problem in other seasons of the year. It would be nice to have a small fridge in the heat of the summer.

We were expecting a large bed as per listed room, but what we got wasn’t even queen size…but we took down the matrace and slept on the floor, which was way more comfortable

Verified reviewThe hotel is well connected and has plenty of parking space
I am well -travelled and I was appalled by the very bad attitude of the manager who didn't own up to the fact that there was a shortage of staff and that the rooms were not cleaned on time/ as requested. After much coaxing , finally agreed to empty the bin, remove dirty towels and do the bed for us to have a decent night ! All excuses and very unprofessional. Manager kept babbling that we were expecting a 5 star hotel when we paid only for a 3 star. Let's remember that customers pay with their hard -earned cash and we deserve respect and a clean room no matter how many stars you have.
First of all you booked a small double room without breakfast - the cheapest rate. You got an upgrade to a regular double room, then you left the hotel in the afternoon - when the housekeeping was already out of duty. In the evening you expected a room cleaning. I explained you the situation, that housekeeping is available until 2 pm. Anyway I cleaned you your room at 8pm to make you happy!!!! And then such a commend after 2 month - that is really ridiculous!
