How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery lovely unique property. Set right on the lake. Each buggy had a history of its own explained by our host, Lea. Great outdoor spaces for gathering. The family was very inviting and kind and always available for anything we needed. Lea even called a local restaurant and made dinner reservations for us! Highly recommend!!!!

Verified reviewNice view. Clean territory.
This is the first place where I had to wait 1h in the queue for prepaid check-in. We agreed about sauna to be ready at 09:00 a.m. for additional cost. In the morning it appeared sauna is not ready and stones are cold. Nobody has notified us about it. Overpriced.

Verified reviewThe views were exceptional. It was very quaint and unique. The staff and owners were really friendly and helpful during our entire stay.
For the price, breakfast was not included and was a little on the pricey side. (Tasty but pricey)

Verified reviewThis is an exceptional property if you want to get out of the standard tourist areas. The wagons are cozy, the location is picturesque and the bedding is the best I've ever had the pleasure of relaxing in! This property and close by town of Obertraun is on the quieter side of lake Hallstatt. This area is best explored with a car and bike rental. We are tourists from America and noticed that most of the folks staying here were locals or German/Austrian tourists so this is a well kept secret from the tourists all staying in town Hallstatt.
Spotty wifi at times in the area due to storms, but not really the fault of the property. Plan to disconnect and be a little more off the grid when visiting this area and property, especially if you are planning an extended trip. The bathrooms and shower are on the smaller side so really tall folks might feel a bit cramped.

Verified reviewWe stayed in the Park am See for two nights in the Lodge Belladonna. It was the best weekend ever. The location is amazing, just near the Hollstätter See, very green and quiet. The Lodge is small but very clean, comfortable and cosy. The blankets and pillows are so soft and airy that sleep was just royal. Guests of lodges have their own private beach with a nice view to the Hallstatt (especially in the evening). Extra payed breakfast was very delicious: mountain water, coffee with a natural milk, fresh baking, and the best of all, eggs a la crème from the hotel owner. Owners of this camping are very friendly. We really enjoyed our time with them. We really didn't want to leave this fabulous place and will definitely be back next year! Highly recommended for quiet and peaceful holidays.

Verified reviewIt's a magic place! The hotel is by the lake, surrounded by the forest. Peaceful, beautiful, clean and breathtaking! We stayed in Belladonna wagon - fantastic experience. The staff at the reception (shame on us, we were so tired that forgot to ask the name of a beautiful lady) is very friendly, helpful and nice. The whole facility is very well maintained, with respect and love to the history and details. I wish we could have stayed longer but even one day/evening at the lake, watching the sunset reflected in the water, enjoying the peace, sounds of nature, a cup of coffee is a gift!
The breakfast starts at 9 am, which might not be convenient for early birds. It's not applicable to us, as we initially didn't plan to have any. This is just to warn other visitors, so there are no bad surprises - it's clearly stated at Hotel's info though!

Verified reviewwe enjoyed the location, the little and charming bungallows, the rich breakfast and the outstanding multilingual staff. Additionally, the activities to do are numerous (biking, hiking, kayaking...) if you would like to avoid the touristy Hallstadt. You can go by bike anywhere, even to hallsdtatt. We drove from Vienna to the localtion of the hotel. however, you can also arrive to hallstadt by train and then rent a bike to the place; or travel to town of Obertraun (Obertraun train station is 20 min walk from the hotel). The staff will recommend (and make the bookings fro you) at many great and good quality restauratnts.
the check in schedule, check in ends at 19.00 - we really rushed on the highway (i know - not smart) to arrive on time and we arrived 10 min late. The owner was really kind to allow us too check in and we are very grateful, but whe had a very stressful trip from Vienna to the place. Also, Breakfast is overpriced.

Verified reviewThese unique and lovely gypsy wagons on the very edge of the lake, deliver everything promised for a wonderful stay and more. Everything was spotless and it is evident that a lot of love and care went into the creating and upkeep of these capsules of history. The property itself are lovingly taken care of and the surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful.
The early check out time is a challenge. A little more time in the morning to soak in the uniqueness and beauty of the accommodation and to have a slower start to the day would have added to the enjoyment of this special place.
