We stayed at this guesthouse in Melk and I must say that the difference was made by Jozef, the waiter who served us. Thanks to his inspired recommendations, we discovered the authentic taste of the local cuisine – exactly what we were looking for. His communication was excellent, always attentive and kind, and he made us come back the next day. His hospitality turned a simple dinner into a memorable experience.

Our room faced the inner courtyard, which we hadn’t expected. One mattress sagged noticeably in the middle, causing some back discomfort. There was no air conditioning, and without a mosquito net we couldn’t keep the windows open, which made the room quite warm in the summer heat.

We loved the location – right in the charming old town, just a short walk to the Abbey and about 15 minutes to the Danube. The area is beautiful and peaceful, with plenty of nice cafés and restaurants nearby. The breakfast was excellent, and the staff even prepared gluten-free rolls for us. The restaurant food was also fantastic, and the service friendly and accommodating.

The apartment was huge. There was a lot of space. The beds were good, shower and bathroom were clean, the kitchen was nice etc. The view was nice. You ser the garden of the restaurant which is cozy, but more inportantly you see the ‘Stift Melk’ from your apartement.

We had a lovely 2 bedroom apartment, which is in a detached building behind the Rathauskeller, with a private parking lot between the 2 buildings. The apartment was clean, spacious, well-equipped, the WiFi worked well, the location was excellent right in the centre of Melk.

Finding the parking lot was very difficult. One of the guests at the hotel actually walked me to the location since my GPS did not show it correctly. I did not see air conditioning in the room and can not recall if it was listed in the description on Booking.

Excellent location on the main square and at the foot of the Abby. The Abby is about 5-10 minuets up a side street that has many steps, but not steep. The hotel is also about 15 minuet easy walk to the river cruise station for the Danube cruises. The hotel has a good restaurant offering Austrian cuisine and some additional lighter foods, with seating either on the main square front or a lovely small courtyard. Breakfast was very good and had variety in the selection. The personnel were friendly and courteous speaking German, English, and Hungarian; perhaps other languages of which I was unaware.

Said it had view . It was a back alley that was noisy at night with cleanup and noisy early morning with opening and garbage etc . Pay extra and get better area if it matters.

No fridge, two mattresses instead of one

Very centrally located hotel near many sights in the small city of Melk (abbey, post office, danube, wachau). Very nice and quiet hotel with spacious rooms. The breakfast was very rich with numerous delicious things to choose from with both inside and outside (in the nice garden) seating areas. The restaurant of the hotel is very good with great food, great drinks (local and international wines) and great service.

It's a good experience to stay at the Rathauskeller. The apartment is spacious and the night is quiet. Especially Mario and Mex are always smiling to answer our questions. We will come back here next time.

Excellent restaurant, excellent breakfast. Staff is really accommodating. Even let us use the clothes washer to do laundry. Large room. Very clean. Perfectly located to explore the small old town. 15 minute walk to the Danube tour boats. Short walk to the Abby.

We stayed in this hotel on a short cycling trip along the Danube. Their main business seems to be the restaurant, which by the way serves good dinner and ice-cream! The rooms are on the 2nd floor and despite the busy restaurant below, we slept well. And they obviously knew how to set up a good breakfast buffet!

Excellent hotel and restaurant. Staff were very friendly although reception is in the restaurant so at busy times you may have to wait a bit. The room was big, clean and well equipped. Breakfast offered a wide selection. The hotel is located directly on the main square, a few minutes on foot to the train station or the Stift.
