Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom was clean and a decent size but I think the bathroom could do with a refit. Totally clean but a nice wet room would have suited the size of the room rather than a bath.
Stand out hotel in lovely town of Dürnstein. There are many positives about the hotel. Staff are lovely and very helpful . They took our bags from our car to the room. Lovely public rooms and swimming pool was a bonus in the hot weather . We had dinner on the terrace overlooking the Danube which was standout if searingly hot but the hotel can’t help that. Parking outside in courtyard. Liked the complimentary non alcoholic drinks and snacks.

One of the best hotels we've ever stayed at, and in one of the most beautiful places. Wonderful staff, generous gifts each day in our refrigerator (drinks, snacks); an incredible location above a bend of the Danube River in a picturesque perfect village.

RomaniaAdded parfume in room was nice but not necessary because odour is perceived differently by each person. My stay at Hotel Schloss Dürnstein was a pleasant experience, and I truly appreciated the hospitality there. However, I am very disappointed with Booking.com’s policy, which—based on my experience—appears to filter or block feedback depending on hotel requests. Specifically, I stayed at Ringhotel Seehof Berlin during the ITB fair and encountered serious issues regarding comfort, hygiene, and safety. Despite reaching out through the customer portal to request the opportunity to submit an honest review, my request was deliberately ignored. I sincerely hope that moderators will take this feedback seriously and ensure more transparency and fairness in the review system.

United StatesI felt this lovely hotel needs much better upkeep. The beds were hard and uncomfortable for 2 people with the twin beds pushed together but separate. They also need to fix the electrical circuits in the room which were coming out of the sockets. There were some bugs in our room that were in the curtains and upstairs in the restaurant. The curtains looked like they weren’t cleaned for a long time. It’s a lovely space and we recognize it’s a historical building but it definitely needs better upkeep. The restaurant service was terrible. There were not enough staff for a small group of people. The food at dinner was awful and the breakfast service to the room was overpriced.
The property is lovely and close to the walk up to the castle. We loved our welcome drink at a nearby pub which also sold delicious homemade apricot jam. Our room was spacious with a lovely view of the river. It was the end of the season so unfortunately the downstairs bar was closed which looked lovely and the outside pool was also lovely. I did get the opportunity to use the spa (which I had to myself) and really enjoyed the steam room, spa and indoor pool. Very relaxing. We went to see the fall foliage and castle it was a beautiful time of year to walk the town. I thought the hotel was closing November 1st but it was closing mid October the weekend we were leaving. So we missed utilizing all the hotel accommodations. The old elevator is charming although can be confusing since it opens on both sides to different rooms.

The hotel is located in a brilliant spot in Dürnstein, right in the Danube. Parking is easy. Staff are excellent and provided a wonderful service. The room was great - large and clean. Lots of storage space and a free mini-bar which was much appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day.

Czech RepublicI think (?) employees of the hotel live in the back of the parking lot (or some activities are going on there). There were some strange people around and it does not look so nice also with smoking areas near the parking .... is not really feeling like you are in an expensive five-star place. The service quality is rather unsmooth, some staff is extremely good and polite others are not and for instance non-guest trying to have a coffee or just dinner were not really treated politely... Even if this does not relate to us, is never pleasant to see other people not being well taken care of in a courteous and polite way. Some topics for improvement but nothing that would keep us from going again...
This is a very nice and charming hotel (a castle) with superb views to the Wachau valley and certainly located in the best spot to explore the area. The breakfast was superb and the dinner very good. Staff was generally attentive.
