I am absolutely amazed by the concept of this hotel. It felt like a fairy tale. Everything is so thoughtfully designed – the interior, every little detail. I truly recommend it. The views are breathtaking. The hosts are kind and welcoming people. I chose this place by chance, but now I will be a regular guest every time I’m in Austria. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here. It’s truly a magnificent concept.

Unfortunately there were no ghosts in the castle or they must have been hiding well.

We came for a long skiing weekend so location was important. 10 minutes drive to Hauser Keibling was a very good option as there is a lot of parking space near the lifts. The castle has a very nice climate and details make you feel the history behind it. We stayed in a very well equipped apartment.

The place is great. It takes you back in time... but you still have all the necessary amenities. Breakfast is very good (including the coffee). It has a big parking space (and chargers for electric cars).

Amazing charming place with big private parking in front of the castle. There is also a ski room with heaters. Warm and clean rooms. Calm and relaxing surrounding. Very kind and helpful stuff, as well as the owners. They are pet friendly. They also have a castle cat - Mr. Bartolomey :) Good distance to Planai station or Schladming - aprox. 17 minutes drive.

The castle and the surroundings are absolutely wonderful. The owner and her family are extremly welcoming. It was one of the best experiences we could ever get. It is an amazing hotel-castle. We totally recommend.

We had a wonderful 1 night Stay at the property, it was super nice, like in a winter fairytale. The property is like 20min car drive from Schladming, which is great! We will be back!! BTW, great breakfast, and super friendly Staff!!

A very pleasant, atmospheric place. Quiet, peaceful, perfect for rest. Very nice and helpful owners who create a family atmosphere. The food is fresh, tasty and varied. It's a pity that apart from breakfast, other meals were not served. As I am on a gluten-free diet, I was provided with gluten-free bread every day. We highly recommend this place! We are a family of 4 with two kids over 10 years old, stayed at the hotel to have a 2 nights break on the way home. We wanted to try something new and came through hotel Schloss Thanneg. Based on the pictures and the reviews on google and trip advisor, we knew that it is a place worth to try, After staying in so many overrated, dirty (4 and 5 star) hotels this summer, we just hoped that we found a nice, relaxing and clean place. The hotel is a refurbished castle and everything was made to preserve its original features. The rooms are nice and cosy, the bedding and the towels are clean white. Real white, not the overly used half-grey ones that you wonder how many people used it and if it was washed properly. The beds were comfi and we could actually open the windows to let some air in. Breakfast was very nice and very good quality! The hotel has a nice cellar where you can stay and relax with a drink on a self-service basis. There is also a nice spa area with sauna and relaxation room. Despite we had a very cold and rainy weather, we went out to discover the nearby towns and went up to the mountains too. We had a very nice stay and would like to thank to the Lady of the Castle (Frau Schrempf) to made our stay so nice and welcomed!

We encountered several very reckless Austrian drivers on the roads on our daily trips, which has nothing to do with the hotel, but one should definitely take care when driving in this area. It was a bit hard to get the bedroom to cool down at night, just opening the window didn't help much and there is no airconditioning present. When sleeping lightly, you might hear noises from other guests, which might have to do with the historic nature of the building.

The Schrempfs are very welcoming and kind, and probably the most friendly Austrians you will ever meet. They did an amazing job at renovating their historic building and even made it completely co2 neutral. The hotel is located in a beautiful and quiet area. By car you can easily reach cities like Salzburg and Hallstatt, and you can find many outdoor activities nearby.

I felt that since we were there towards the end of the season it felt a little depressing. Everything was closed and completely silent at 9:30 pm. I would definitely recommend coming more in the high season unless you’re after a quiet holiday
