Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. GermanyCheck in is not until 15:00 / 3pm, which is quite late if you are arriving in Vienna early. Staff offered an earlier check-in at 12 on the same day for an added fee of 20 euros. I didn't find this unusual for the cheap price of the room, but the floor had not been cleaned properly upon arrival (a few hairs and a candy wrapper under the bed) and that's where the communication circus began. I kindly requested a refund of the early check-in fee for the inconvenience of having to clean the room again. This was not up for negotiation (staff kept referring to me as "dear" ...Ok Dear, Sure dear...etc...possibly kind, but also rather annoying when you feel you're not being taken seriously). I was not quite clear on the fact that the place is three rooms with one shared shower and one shared bathroom. Maybe this was my oversight, but even so, if that is the case, then I would suggest to the owners to at least put in some sort of squeegee in the shower and a better towel hanging system. The bathrooms were not cleaned while I was there and showering in other peoples' beard shavings etc isn't delightful. There is a kitchen, but don't expect to cook if you stay there...no utensils or functioning knives / cutting boards to do any cooking. Also, the apartment is a bit of a hike from anything near the center or any of the finer eateries without any good cafes around (to be fair, I knew the location was a bit detached when booking).
Communication (all via WhatsApp or Booking app) was clear before arrival. Building the apartment is in is also quite special in some way. Artist gallery is attached to the side and neighbourhood feels safe.

MalaysiaFloor was not very clean. Window cannot be opened as it was blocked by the bed frame, the fan is strong but can be hot in summer. Lucky for us, it was raining so was bearable. There was coconut oil from the mattress and stained the bedsheets. I complained and the staff let us to change the room (only after he saw the mattress was ‘drenched’ with the oil, not just stain on the sheet. Depending on the apartment, you will either get not-renovated-yet toilet and bathroom or newly renovated. The new room I got came with very bad toilet and bathroom. Same case on wifi - depends on the apartment number. Good luck to you if you want to book here.
As per its name, the room was spacious. It has small fridge inside the room. It was raining and the staff lend us umbrella.

CroatiaThe sinks are kinda small, the walls are really thin so we heard some unwanted noises from the other room which was on the other side of the apartment.
I liked that it was modern. The bathroom, toilet and kitchen are great looking, always clean and ready to use. Appreciate the little fridge in the room, it was very useful.

PolandThe biggest issue was the cleanliness of the room. The most unpleasant part was that the bed linen wasn’t fresh. Additionally, on the last evening of our stay, one of the guests caused a problem with the bathroom — the water stopped draining in the shower, so it was impossible to take a final shower.
The apartment has a good location. Communication with the owner is also fine.

Czech RepublicRoom had mold on the walls, questionable stains on the sheets, a random refrigerator blocking the closet, and barely enough room for two people to move around each other. Had to call the number listed in the confirmation for property access since no instructions were sent. The person on the other end of the line was very rude and not helpful.

AustriaApartment is not well furnished, no proper electric plugins, no hair dryer and iron. Toilet and bathroom are also not well equipped, sinks are too small to be used and tiles are dangerously slippery due to poor drainage system.
