How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay at this hotel right next to Vienna’s Hauptbahnhof train station. The location is absolutely perfect – just a few minutes to the city center by metro or bus, which made sightseeing very easy. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and very clean. The breakfast was very good. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Vienna.

Verified reviewAn easy 5 minutes walk from the station. The hotel is very modern and premium. Rooms are spacious. Lobby is great. They have good luggage storage, so one can peacefully explore the city until flight time after check out. Neighbourhood is clean, and all the facilities are available nearby. I shall stay there again without any doubt.

Verified reviewLocation 5-minute walk from main train station; 15 minutes from Schloss Belvedere; 30 minutes from city center. Excellent facilities, Leonardo chain is very reliable; large breakfast room with many options. Very well run property.
Nothing to complain about; some long waits for the (3) lifts, but that was because it was August and the hotel had some large tour groups staying there.

Verified reviewThe location is great, even though it isn't in the city centre, the main train station is very close by so you are well connected to the centre. The rooms were spacious and clean. And you could adjust the air-con yourself.

Verified reviewThe Room was spacious and well equiped with all that we required including a small fridge and coffee maker that could also make tea. It was tended to and made up freshly every day by the excellent housekeeping team. Beakfast was superb in every respect; catering as it did for all tastes and preferences. There was so much delicious food to choose from. The hotel managed the large number of guests at breakfast with ease. The staff on reception were always helpful and good humoured.
The music in the foyer/bar area did not appeal. I did not stay there for a drink, nor did many others! What makes Vienna a wonderful city to visit? Great art, Opera, Music and culture. The home of Mozart! I complained to the hotel staff about the ambient pop music playing on the ground floor. I was told that they have no control over the music, it is decided by the management of the Leonardo group. My message to the management is that some of the guests are discerning music lovers. Take note!

There is no possibilities to lock the toilet door. There was no door in bathroom. If you will stay with your family, it is ok, but if you are travelling with your friend it is not convinient to visit the toilet and douche.

Verified reviewWe needed convenient location to Bahnhof. We enjoyed the bar next door at Motel 1 and we liked that we could store our bags safely after check out till departing later that night.
Our room did have 2 separate twin beds which was what we specified since we are not a couple but we were unaware of the very open shower ( no door/ sheer drape) area which was kind of awkward when getting ready.

the douche was damaged and it really affected the shower experience. another thing is that the shower has a high and dangerous stair and it might be problematic for old people for example. the bedsheets and the towels had a not a very fresh smell.
