Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomIt’s not a hotel, it’s a family run guesthouse, with only 4 guest rooms, the rooms are small and because it’s an old building ( well preserved) it didn’t have any AC and we couldn’t sleep at night, couldn’t open the windows because there are no insect nests,
Location is perfect for sight seeing around the area, free car park , very friendly staff, good breakfast and has a great restaurant, always full of guests

United StatesThe hotel room is surrounded with hard wood decor. Our room is next to a river with a beautiful mountain view. There is not a desk inside the room. But there is a big common area right outside our room. Breakfast is freshly prepared in generous portion. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had our rental car and it was about 10 minutes scenic ride to Hallstatt.

Czech RepublicJust a small suggestion, a small fridge in the room would be welcome, and maybe an electric kettle. Tho the staff was very nice and accomodating, i think if we needed something to store in a cold place they would help us out.
The room was super charming and cozy with great view on the mountain and the river. The bed was comfy, probably the best sleep I got in a long time. Shower had good water pressure. The staff was nice and helpful. The food either for lunch/dinner or breakfast was delicious.

Ireland- not major, as I’m alone and staying for just 2 nights, but not sure if new towels will have to be requested for each day
The accommodation was an experience in itself! - lake and mountain view out the window - the mainly log style interior was very quirky and considered, i loved it! - super clean and comfortable - the staff were so friendly and very attentive - superb location, 7-minute walk away from the train station, the bus stops to and from Hallstatt (centre) were in front of the accom, very convenient - and the breakfast was excellent (food and service wise). You go down and the table is set for you.

GreeceThe room was exceptional! Everything was so beautiful, a wooden room with an amazing view at the lake & the mountains! In the morning there were even swans swimming outside of our window! It was very clean, spacious & had all the amenities even a very powerful hairdryer! Also when we got there we found sweet treats! The breakfast was very good and so was the dinner & the sweets too! All of the staff was very nice, polite & helpful! Totally recommended!

CanadaThe room was warm and there was no fan to cool it.
Located in a quieter neighborhood, it was a lovely place to spend a couple of nights. The room is beautiful with carved wood furnishings and stone floors. They decorated the room for us, the shower was exceptional, the toilet was in a separate room from the shower which is a bonus. The place itself was clean and the view of the river was beautiful. The restaurant was really good! the breakfast was very filling and they made eggs upon request for you. One thing to watch for is that there no reception, so you have to say when you arrive and stick to that time.

United KingdomThis was a really beautiful and cosy hotel. I was a solo traveller here and I felt very well looked after by the owners and staff. My room was beautiful, with a view of the river and mountains. There was even a view of a waterfall from the shower! There's a very nice place for swimming just a few minutes walk away from the hotel and it's about 7 minutes walk to the train station, which is well connected to towns and cities in the region. Breakfast at the hotel was very good, with very generous portions. And I would recommend eating at the restaurant, which had a really nice atmosphere and fantastic traditional dishes.

United StatesWe knew when we booked that there was no air conditioning in the hotel but we thought that there would be a fan to help circulate the air. There is a window and when we opened it at night, the room was comfortable. During the day it was very warm even with the window opened so it was not comfortable to stay in the room during the day and up to later in the evening.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast that is included with the room rate was far better than we had anticipated! Everything was fresh, very tasty and more than we could eat. There was a variety of fresh breads, fruits, jams, assortment cheeses and meats; and they even offer additional hot items if you want any. We also had two very good dinners at the restaurant, which is very popular so make a reservation and eat outside by the water.

United KingdomIt was extremely hot when we visited. Unfortunately there is no air conditioning though the windows can be opened and due to the location it can cool down quite quickly. Having a free standing fan would’ve been a bonus.
The hotel is small with only a few rooms but with a thriving restaurant. It is situated at the side of the Traun at the opposite end of the Halstattersee to Halstatt which is one of the most visited towns locally. We had a bus stop right outside and it was very easy to get to Halstatt or any of the local towns using the local service. The restaurant provides a wide variety of extremely good quality Austrian food and appears to be a popular place for locals to eat. The staff are very approachable and helpful. The hotel rooms are rustic in style but fully modernised. The modernisation has been completed very thoughtfully and in keeping with the 450 year old history of the building. I was extemely pleased with the accommodations and the location which also provides a private balcony for the rooms and a green space with easy access to the lake.

SingaporeThe place is beautiful and convenient. It is accessable with public transport (bus stops in front of the guesthouse). Also, convenient to visit Hallstatt (5 min by bus). The restaurant has a great chef and food was delicious 😋. I enjoyed my breakfast with a beautiful view of Alpes. The room was a fairytale looking, spacious with a comfort beyond imagination. The view from my room was breathtaking. Also, would like to thank hosts for such an amazing hospoitaltiy. It was amazing to stay there!

United StatesA nightlight for middle-of-the-night bathroom visits would be appreciated.
The family Grampelhuber were wonderful hosts. Mom, Dad, two sons, two daughter (in law), and two grandchildren, along with a fine and attentive staff. The food, both breakfast and dinner, was outstanding. Music filled the house. We will long look on our Austrian visit to Bad Goisern and Steegwirt fondly.

FranceDespite the vicinity of the lake, there is no equipment (such as a pier or a sunbathing place) to enjoy a dip in the lake. Breakfast is served at 8 am, which was fine for us but may be late for others.
The rooms are decorated in a very unusual and clever way, playing on the culture of wood from the region. The choice of high quality materials makes the place totally silent (when windows are closed) and you can just enjoy the view on the Traun river and the lake. Having dinner outside was quite a treat. Make sure you stay for lunch or dinner: the award given by Gault&Millau is perfectly deserved, this is the best place to eat in the region. Make sure also to book in advance, the place is famous in the region.

United StatesIt was not really within close walking distance to much, and is just off the road, but we would still recommend it.
Location next to the river is beautiful. The food was excellent. One of the best restaurants I've ever been to and worth the price. Quality ingredients, in the summer the fish is fresh caught from the river. The trout was outstanding.
