How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Be careful when staying here! I had half board included, yet they still tried to charge me extra at checkout for a simple lemonade that was offered with my meal. The hotel is also located in the middle of nowhere, which makes it very inconvenient. Not a place I would recommend.

Nevertheless, I am very sorry for the inconveniences during your stay- altough we give our best to focus the well-being of all our guests. I am pleased to inform that in our resort, we do not offer an all inclusive option when it comes to food and beverages. In our menu and cards, the prices are clearly stated but I offer my sincere apologies though, if your were not informed properly about the extra cost of drinks during dinner. I clearly want to mention that we are not located in the city centre directly but you can reach various locations by public transport or car within a few minutes or even by walking (10 minutes by foot until you reach the first cable car or shop). I am sorry if you would have preferred your vacation in a more urban surrounding. We would be pleased to welcome you back if you desire a quiet but not too far-off location for your next holiday. Verified reviewI would like to start by addressing our congratulations to a few members of the hotel staff: Mr. Marco from the reception who was very helpful throughout our stay, very professional, gave us very useful advice, and presented us with great detail the attractions in the Kaprun-Zell am See area! Congratulations! Thanks also to our waiter from the first days, Mr. Badreddine, always with a smile on his face and very attentive to the customers! Overall the hotel and the services met our expectations, the spa and thermal areas very clean, the water in A relaxing stay, good hotel, with good service, clean rooms, very kind housekeeping
On the other hand, we can say that we were somewhat disappointed that our request for dinner was not taken into account, considering that my wife only eats chicken or pork, we would have expected the manager or chef to take this into account! A minus would be the behavior of the restaurant manager, who allowed himself within a few minutes to yell at an employee and then to point a threatening finger and attract the attention of a waitress in an extremely harsh tone! From my point of view, observations should be made elsewhere, never in front of customers! There’s no a la carte menu restaurant for dinner, so you only can have a full self-service dinner…which is great, choice is amazing , but if you prefer not to eat too much at night it might be difficult.

From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed – especially thanks to the Dutch lady at reception, who was very kind, attentive to small details, and even took care to make our dog Scott feel comfortable. At check-out, we were assisted by a helpful Hungarian gentleman (blonde) who explained the invoice thoroughly and showed genuine interest in our experience. A special compliment also goes to the waiter László, who took care of us in the restaurant during the last three days. Although he is new to the team, he impressed us with his calm, friendly, and very professional manner. It was a real pleasure to be served by him, as he created a relaxed atmosphere without any sense of rush. Overall, however, we had a truly delightful stay and are very grateful to your team for the warm and attentive service. We look forward to returning
The sauna area was also well equipped and enjoyable. Our only small point of feedback would be that not all guests respect the “textile-free” rule, and some walk through the foot bath with slippers, which is less hygienic.

We arrived at 8 pm and still had to wait until 11 pm to get our rooms. This is unacceptable. We did not make a claim as the reception staff was very nice doing their best but still this experience was bad for us. It was August and very hot outside. They don't have air conditioning to cool the room and on top of that HEAT was coming through their system. The problem persisted the whole stay, very uncomfortable. No bell boy, we carried our luggage from the car and then the receptionist helped us to take it to the room.

As your booking reached us the same day around 7:30 pm and we were running at very high occupancy, only a limited number of rooms were ready at that time. With a reduced housekeeping team in the evening compared to daytime, additional rooms had to be prepared, which unfortunately led to a waiting time of 1.5 hours. I truly regret this delay – it does not reflect our usual standards, and we will review our processes to handle such situations better in the future. Regarding the room temperature, I would like to clarify that the category you booked does not feature air conditioning. For future stays, I would be pleased to recommend one of our Nature rooms, which are equipped with an air-cooling system and provide more comfort during hot summer months. I also regret that no bellboy was available at the time of your arrival. While our reception team gladly assisted you, I fully understand that this was not the experience you were expecting. In particular, the dinner selection was noticeably more limited compared to previous stays, and the service staff were not as friendly or enthusiastic. Before my arrival, I had sent a message to the hotel requesting a room on a higher floor, as I was assigned low-floor rooms during my previous stays. Unfortunately, my request was not fulfilled this time either.
