How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe breakfast is like a 3-star one, but with good quality products. The pool is extraordinary! Disappointing staff! It is way too expensive for what it offers!
I didn't like the staff!

Verified reviewAmazing location and facilities surrounded by wine yards and mountains. Very clean and nice, relaxed. The pool was great.
There is no dinner available. The staff was a bit unfriendly, but it might be because of the language barrier (the staff speaks only very little English).

Verified reviewNice location on a winery. Excellent breakfast included.
We did not feel very welcome, and the requested wine tasting was rushed. We were not offered help where to enjoy our purchased wine nor were we introduced to the pool or sauna.

Verified reviewThe hotel itself and the location were everything we imagined. The rooms were very clean, well appointed, and quite large. The furniture (bed, chairs, couch) was all very nice and the bathroom was great. The view from the balcony was amazing looking over the patio and pool below and especially over the terraced vineyards. The light breakfasts were very delicious and the eatery was a great place to greet the day. The wines met all expectations and were quite affordable and delicious. There is a beautiful pool and patio as well as an onsite spa with hot rooms and saunas. Short drive into Melk which has beautiful shops, old buildings (including a Benedictine monastery), eateries and other fun things to do such as take a cruise on the blue Danube.
Our arrival was almost greeted like a surprise and nearly seemed like it was unappreciated. None of the amenities were gone over for us (including the less than intuitive underground garage operation) and we felt more like interlopers than guests. I understand that we were English speaking Americans, but that shouldn't have shone on us in an unkindly way in our opinion especially for a hotel, which of course, is a service industry, no matter how esoteric of a place it might be. We also understand in Europe that air conditioning is not to be expected, but in the description it did mention that these modern units had air conditioning. However, when we got to our rooms, we found that the air conditioning would not turn on (it was in the mid 80's both days were there). After a call to the front office to ask about the air conditioning and to inquire about a good place to get dinner (there is no food available on site after breakfast and there are VERY limited options in town in the later evening hours after 7pm), we were informed that it had "turned cold" and that therefore the heat had been turned on and the air conditioning had been deactivated. We were told to simply "open the window" and that we didn't need the air conditioning. The final nail in the proverbial coffin was that one of or party left behind a rain coat in the closest. We inquired about getting it shipped to us as we were already off to Vienna and only a day from coming back to the States. We were told that it could be sent to a European address, but not the the U.S. Once again, the service one receives from a hotel is a large part of the experience and the unwillingness to assist with the mailing of a jacket back to the States falls FAR short of what is expected in the hospitality business.

Verified reviewIt was perhaps the prettiest place we stayed in Austria and that is saying a lot for this beautiful country. Have you ever had a dream of a story book vineyard, decorated with flowers and vines on a lovely mountainside beneath castle ruins where sweet warm plums literally fall from the trees for the eating. Then stay here and your dream will come true. Take the walk up to the hotel from town on the mountainside you won’t regret it. And the wine was superb at a very reasonable cost.
My foolishness at not learning a little german. This charming spot is off the beaten track, the owners speak only a little English. I would have liked to have spoken with them more. Learn a few words before you go. But make sure to go. You will love it.

Verified reviewthe location is great, with vineyards all around.
We needed to check multiple times for electric charging. First we were told there is none, then on checking again it was available but at an extra charge (which is totally fine). We knew there was a wellness side to the hotel but were not informed of the facility or timings.
