How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocated a little way out of town. Very quiet, large property surrounded by bush land. We were in an air conditioned converted shipping container away from the main house, shared bathroom facilities which were modern and always very clean. Our room was very comfortable with tasteful fresh new decor. We had the use of the swimming pool and several very comfortable communal areas. The communal kitchen was small but well stocked and clean. Parking right beside the room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
The mattress was quite thin making it a little uncomfortable.

Verified reviewWe had such a fantastic stay — everything about the accommodation exceeded our expectations. The space was spotless, and had all the little touches that made it feel like a home away from home. The location was perfect for exploring the area, such a peaceful setting. Huge thanks to our hosts for making our holiday so memorable. We’d absolutely stay again and recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable getaway!

Verified reviewCabins are located in quiet spot short drive from town. Eco cabins have nice tropical garden outside them. Shared use of the kitchen and outdoor covered terrace/ lounges and swimming pool is great. The host Billy and family were very friendly and helpful.
Nothing. Just note that toilet/shower is located near the house a short walk away from the cabins which are at the rear of the property

Verified reviewThe host was very friendly and accommodating. The room was lovely with a beautiful garden view out the windows. Pool looked lovely.
Not really a laundry. The family washing machine is available for use. Clothes will need to be hung to dry where the family live, for all to see. If you don't need to do lots of washing, it's a great place to stay.
Thank you. To be clear the camp kitchen has a washing machine & dryer (for wet season use). We request $5/machine/use all donated to guide dogs Australia. Via honesty tin system. The domestic washing machine is on back order. We also ask that 10c recycling bottles & cans are collected for Variety Charity for children.

Seating for 2 inside the building would have been helpful, but perhaps not really possible given the space.

Verified reviewSurrounding gardens were lovely.
The owner spent 20 minutes talking before we could actually unwind. We had been touring all day & were extremely tired. His Manchester accent was very hard to understand, and he kept waffling on. Accommodation was up the back of the property in converted shipping containers. The bed was too big for the room and very low to the ground. There was one foot on either side, making it difficult to get out, especially if you suffered with a bad back or knees. Bathroom facilities were quite away from your accommodation. Shared shower & toilet, both in the same building. Made it extremely difficult to go to the toilet if someone was taking a shower. You had to wait as there was no other toilet! Kitchen & laundry were behind shower/toilet. Not enough cutlery or plates, which were all mixed together in plastic boxes. The pool area was shared with owners and their family. Large old dogs roaming around property bailing you up & barking at you. I was bailed up in the kitchen by two dogs, which would not let me out. It was quite frightening, then they would be all over you when you tried to relax and eat in the pool area. I had to shoo them away and was annoyed when they wouldn't leave. Too bad if you're scared of dogs. Another customer was also bailed up by the dogs along the driveway. I had to help her get away. Lounge areas near BBQ's and pool area were shared with owners. Very poor internet reception. I moved to get a better signal when two of the female owners sat in my spot drinking & and smoking, where my clothes were with a total disregard to me as paying guests. My clothes smelt of cigarette smoke! We ended up going back to our shipping container for some peace & quiet and to get away from the dogs. A worker was in the large shed, making lots of noise with power tools. On the inside of the property, you were surrounded by beautiful gardens. Long, dry grass surrounded the outer perimeter of the property along the fence line.
Wow, fabulous feedback. Genuinely we do request & welcome it, but please let us know during your stay, not ramble in a one sided diatribe. Hail the era of the keyboard warriors. Seriously we are sorry that the ‘guest’ dogs have alarmed you. They’re long time family members that have no history of anything more than wanting attention & treats. However we have two Old dogs that are more placid still & used to actual guests, maybe we have misjudged this, think though. If you don’t like the bush, life on a rural property, other people, help, talking, sunlight, walking, sharing & being normal. Book a hotel room & keep to yourself. This wordy reply isn’t an affirmation of the waffle comment, trying to address all the issues, real or unrealistic as they may be. Let’s dive straight in. Extended orientation, which both guests belly laughing at times, were offered the option of the story, which they requested. The story explains the journey from Sydney to Katherine via Wigan. The idea is to welcome you into our home. It was protracted as there are others on the property, we had a couple of maintenance issues to resolve, two facilities were out of action awaiting parts, more than usual, so not just max 4 guests & Andrea & I. Extra family is here for three weeks. One family has elderly dogs which are both deaf & nearly blind, dogs are in unfamiliar territory, with, to the dogs at least, strangers. This a possibly an oversight on our part. Only this guest has brought it to our attention. No problem reported & guest mentioned above is still here & gave a bewildered no idea what this guest is on about. We do have a smoking area, which is clearly defined & stayed in. Here’s an idea don’t sit next to smoking area if you don’t like smoking & smokers. The property is 33 acres, smoking area is four chairs & a table. We will relocate this as of today to be downwind of prevailing winds. Smokers although they are a dying breed, must be accommodated & in general are encouraged away from communal areas. We have ample crockery, in the camp kitchen, this in boxes because we’re in the bush & cleanliness is paramount. Read other reviews regarding welcome & orientation, usually staff score 10, this is indicative of our family & is our home. Regarding bed size, shipping containers are one width, oddly truck width. We have placed a queen bed, not to dwarf room, the bed has a minimalist frame, but does maximise the available sleeping area.we feel that a double two small for two adults & the container is the width it is. When a bed is on a property with 6 acres of manicured gardens in 33 acre property & adjacent to a national park, guests usually focus of cleanliness, hosts, comfort & price of the room. Sorry this equation hasn’t worked this time. The norm is we have two old dogs a Labrador 14 & a chihuahua 12. These dogs love a pat & most guests treat them from their plates. Regarding Wi-Fi, starlink has broken, they took two weeks to reply to their messaging service. New equipment is ordered. We currently have an iPad as a hotspot which is working fine whilst in the communal areas. Starlink only offers 30m radius & that’s space technology. This was explained in oration too. Jobbing noise is inevitable, we try to work when guests are out, but works continue, things break. Everything on a rural blocked is powered, so no power, no anything. We carry out preventative maintenance but still get caught out. We do not live & die by reviews but we ask that “if you love it tell everyone, if you don’t tell us how to improve.” Apologies that everything in the best value, most secure, highest rated, out of town stay in the NT, wasn’t the CBD Hilton you didn’t book.

Verified reviewGreat location outside of town. Clean and simple accommodation with all you need. Staff and pets were very friendly!
The room with ensuite had a very strong stanch, I couldn’t stand the smell but my friend didn’t seem to mind it. The bed in the other cabin is ok but very low and not overly comfortable.
Sorry to hear your stay wasn’t perfect, thank you for the score of 9 though. Unsure about the smell, maybe from mopping & you just dislike the disinfectant/cleaning products, as you say your friend didn’t mind. Regarding bed, first ever comment about comfort. Will investigate further & upgrade/replace as required. Too low, no comment. Thank you for the valuable feedback. We’re aiming for 10/10, love the advice.
