Excellent central accommodation. We were greeted by a friendly owner /manager and were offered an upgrade of the room. Our room was large , the bed very comfortable , ensuite with spa. The room opened up onto a beautiful verandah with tables & seating. We were also treated to a Devonshire tea on arrival which we thoroughly enjoyed whilst on the verandah watching the sun set over Queenscliff. A delicious cooked breakfast in the morning was served in the sunny breakfast room , included in the price. We would highly recommend a stay, we felt spoilt , it was outstanding hospitality, can’t wait to return. Thank you so much to all at Athelstane House.

Chris looked after us very well providing delicious breakfasts and home-made cakes and even yummy lunch to take away. Even though it was freezing and very windy outside this small hotel was very comfortable and warm and Chris was very hospitable with nothing too much trouble.

The property was so beautiful. Truly a grand old lady. Our Queen room with a balcony was large enough and clean. The heating worked well for a winter stay. The bathroom was clean and modern with a huge spa bath and lovely heated lights in the ceiling. Perfect for a cold winters stay. The concierge Chris was welcoming and very accommodating. The cooked to order breakfast was lovely and so big!

Great location, close to main street and all facilities required for a pleasant stay in Queenscliff. The room was a great size and equipped with all you need, with exception no mini fridge, however, we were ere offered a bucket of ice to put cold drinks in if needed. Our host was excellent, and he went above our expectations in making sure we enjoyed our stay and had some great tips on where to go for dinner. Breakfast was excellent and was a high point in our stay.

We loved the room albeit not flush with mod cons. Old world in many ways but very clean, and comfortable. Anthony, our host, was very friendly and helpful, even giving us a bit of the history of the building. The "cooked to order" breakfast was very good and was worth the wait. Athelstone Hotel exudes a relaxed atmosphere which we really enjoyed even though our stay was only overnight. We'd certainly stay again if in Queenscliff.
