Reviews of Wisemans Retreat 3 stars

Slightly hesitant to book as there are some rather well reasoned poor reviews. That said, it was only an overnighter during the winter off season and we weren't travelling to stay at this place, we stayed at this place as we were travelling. Yes, the bathroom needs a spruce up - but it was clean - as does the retreat in general, and the gardens particularly could do with some love. But to be honest, it's perfectly acceptable and at least as good as an equivalent motel you see in rural towns. The biggest difference however was the price, as it was cheaper than most of those same motels these days. My assumption is they know it needs a reno - and I understand there's a major one planned - so they're pricing accordingly. Overall, the room was clean and mostly well maintained, the location is hard to beat and the price was great.

Noise transfer between rooms isn't great. And the mattress is extremely firm!

Unfortunately, we stayed in the middle of winter. Our room heater didn't work and it was a $75 call out fee to have someone come and look at it after 5pm. We had to sleep with extra layers of clothing on.

Large, comfortable room in a quiet and peaceful setting near the river. We were there for a function and it was great having a room just metres away from the function centre. Staff was very obliging.

Only tiny complaint was no complimentary biscuits or snack to have with our cup of tea.

2 beds pushed together to make a king - they were uneven and not so comfortable on my side Some dead and live cockroaches Slippery shower floor as water would spray across the floor as shower curtain was removed

Love the view and bed comfortable good quiet location, the room got that home feeling to it will definitely go back for another visit.

Bathroom door was timber slats and the outside noise was heard during the night.

Thick layer of dust on every surface used water bottle in the fridge

The room we got given was a bit run down. It smelled mouldy when we first walked in. The bathroom door had panels missing out of it and didn’t close properly. The back door didn’t lock either.

Location, friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed, coffee machine

No biggy but an outdoor light right outside my room was on all night.

Lovely clean accomodation, easy check in. Comfortable bed and climate controlled room. Handy walking distance to the hotel and cafe. Loved our stay here. Thanks so much.
