How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Verified reviewThese rooms were so nice. They were so clean. Actually the cleanest place we have ever stayed. Inside and out. And we have stayed in many hotels and motels. The staff were lovely. The pool area was fantastic for the kids. Location was fantastic. Bathrooms were nice and big. Beautiful beauty mirror in main room. Perfect for getting ready. Loved our stay. We drove over to Bribie Island on the way home as it was not far out of the way. Would definitely stay here again. Thankyou for having us.

Verified reviewThe room we initially booked was unavailable so were upgraded to a spa room, unfortunately we were not there long enough to use it. The bathroom was roomy, with a large shower which had great pressure and had a secure door to keep the water in.

Paid for the property arrived there with my friends to have a shower as we were camping and needed to freshen up. Karen starts yelling telling us we aren’t allowed to shower there even tho I paid for it. Wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone
It is always good to tell an entire story. The manager (not named Karen) did not yell at you. You did not advise that you had 9 (that is correct - 9)!! people that you wanted to shower in one room when you spoke to the manager earlier in the morning, when you were chasing an early check in. If you had, your booking would never have been accepted. As explained to you earlier today when you rang and were totally rude again, your money was refunded to BDC before you had even left the driveway. If you have not received your refund, you need to take that up with BDC.

Verified review. Overall the room was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly. Sometimes that is what makes the difference. It was suitable for what we needed overnight catching up with family.
Very very steep steps for my 83 and 80 year old parents to walk up but the staff weren't to know when I booked a family room for 3 people. The noise from the main road below our window wasnt great.
We are sorry that you didn't mention your elderly parents when booking, we would certainly have done our best to accommodate you in a more easily accessible room. Unfortunatley, being on a very busy main road, we are at the mercy of the traffic noise, luckily it does quieten down a bit late in the evening.
