How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautifully decorated, wonderful atmosphere, location is the best in Daylesford.
The room needed some little extras to make it more traveller friendly: a full length mirror, a nightstand next to the bed with a lamp and a few drawers. A more usable table/stand in the bathroom next to the sink.
Thank you for your feedback, Alison.

Verified reviewLocation was excellent. Right in the Main Street. All staff were wonderful and helpful.
The round bed is horrible. Might be ok for short people but not average height. The bathroom had no ventilation so you could enjoy the spa as it was too hot. It also leaked making the floor dangerous.
Thank you for your review. The images on the listing clearly depict the round bed and the internal nature of the room you booked. Each of our rooms vary in fit out, and perhaps one of the other rooms may have been better suited to you.

Verified reviewLocation was excellent and plenty of space in the car park at the back of the hotel. The bed was lovely and comfortable, towels good and the room had old fashioned radiators which make the room lovely and cosy.
This hotel is way past its best. It is in dire need of renovation. The first impression you have when you come in from the car park is a battered door, dark, threadbare carpets which are covered in leaves and muck from outside. In fact the carpet remained in this un-vacuumed state all the way up the main stairs and was still un vacuumed when we left the next morning. The room needed a deep clean as well as the corridor we walked through to get to our room. All dark paint and not much light. There were cobwebs hanging off the chandelier above the bed. The bathroom has a glass panelled door which is not too bad as the toilet is positioned to the right so out of sight. However was on a very heavy spring so was propped open by a small marble topped bistro table (chipped) that was quite heavy to move. I requested the spa bath room as I wanted a relaxing treat in this ‘boutique’ hotel but the spa part did not work. The bath was old and heavily stained and had been touched up with paint around the plug hole. The basin had a massive crack in it where something heavy must have been dropped. The small TV was on a bracket for a much larger TV so you were left staring at unsightly wires. Bedside table handle broken.
Thank you for your review, we appreciate your comments. We have made some changes to our housekeeping team since your stay

Verified reviewThe location was fantastic, on the main streets. Has a great restaurant/bar. Cafe attached does fantastic coffees for die hard coffee lovers who can’t do instant in the morning.
We stayed in the Marilyn room which had a fantastic large bathroom but there were no windows anywhere 😳 no toothpaste, no snacks in the mini bar to buy etc

Verified reviewPillows were extremely comfortable! Like sleeping on a big cloud! Location was phenomenal, extremely central to everything you want/need in Daylesford. Ample parking in the hotel carpark which was also private and tucked away. Restaurant on site was decent, good cocktails. Would've been awesome if we could have ordered food/drinks to the room.
Small rooms with not much natural light (though the website did disclose this - so we knew this walking in). Spa bath took a long time to fill and was VERY noisy so we felt bad using it late at night. Check-in was slightly confusing as a process - an email outlining what to do and where to go would've been helpful.

Verified reviewLocation was good and ideal for walking around everywhere.
Was disappointed as we had ants in the bathroom and main room coming from cracks and when we called to report it, was told it was the country and that's what happens in the country. When told i wished for the manager to contact me, was never contacted and had to call again to speak to another staff member who told us our room would be cleaned and upon returning the ants were still there.

Verified reviewLovely decor, big room and massive bathroom with spa bath and huge shower. Central.location.
Older building and the floor boards squeaked when walking around the room. Bathroom floor slippy when wet from the shower.

Under bed had old cans and corks, no hot water Saturday, outside yards are full of rubbish, room looks too cluttered with bulky furniture not enough power points so unsafe power boards provided. Ants all over room

Verified reviewLocation good
Old and dated ..long stairs …tv not visible from bed to relax. Pillows look nice and fluffy but then go to hard to sleep with. No iron and board standard in room. $239 of peak expensive for old pub type accommodation.

Verified reviewThe rooms were very nice, super comfortable and each had character. The hotel is in an excellent location and parking is super easy.
The hallway to the rooms feels quite abandoned, there were empty boxes, mops and cleaning signs around, which felt very odd and unfinished.
Thank you for your feedback Stephanie

Verified reviewCentral to Vincent Street which is a big tick - Old charm but a bit tired & needs some TLC - The bed was Fabulous! - View from the window as the sun went down was great
The room had not been cleaned properly in quite awhile as the skirtings/carpet/ black metal furniture were thick with dirt & dust, I think vacuumed around the furniture is the drill. The fan in the bathroom was thick with grey cruds on the filter & has not been cleaned in some time. Room 10 - I filled the bath but the spa didn’t work, it was disappointing.
