How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Something was leaking in the bathroom; the floor was constantly wet so it was a slipping hazard. The room had very basic provisions. There wasn't a plug for the sink to wash any dishes used, and no dish washing liquid or cloth provided. We purchased from the local store. No teaspoons for hot drinks. We did approach management for dinner plates (as only small plates were provided); a tea towel was provided then. I feel confident that they would have provided the other items if asked. Reception was closed when we needed those items.
The location was great, and easy to find at the end of a day of travel. Bath towels were great -not white! Bonus! A nice base to go for a walk on great paths hugging the highway. Roadhouse was just down the road and lovely bakery in the town.

We had read many of the reviews on booking.com and were quite apprehensive about our stay at the Gawler Ranges Motel. However, we were pleasantly surprised by our Deluxe Queen Room at the rear of the motel - it was quiet and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. Yes, the motel (and our room) certainly did need a dose of TLC but we would stay there again without hesitation. As a base for exploring the wonderful Wudinna area, we would highly recommend a Deluxe Queen Room.

Budget rooms at the front are supposedly noiser than the deluxe rooms towards the back. Not sure how important this is. Overall, the highway seemed fairly quiet except for the occasional road trains ( but it was a long weekend). Rooms are OK but older style and may benefit from a deep clean. Skirting boards were pretty dusty. There was a warning about mice from the nearby wheatfields BUT we didn't see or hear any. There is also another hotel in town centre with rooms and food.
Stayed one night en route east. On Highway 1. Easy to find. Pretty quiet. Usual motel facilities, incl. crockery and cutlery. Comfortable beds, good shower, good wifi. Curry suppers available. Short drive to town.

The fact that the light globes threw out next to no light. Shampoo was not supplied. Curtains were clean but so drab. Carpet stained at entrances. No fly wire screens so we couldn't enjoy more light with the doors open. The dark furnishings and light brown brick walls meant there was a very sombre hue. Because the only store open on a Sunday or early morning is the pub, they need to supply a few more kitchen facilities in order to make your own breakfast - decent sized bowls, plates, bread knife, cleaning sponge, T-towel. Because of all these points, this place should have been much less expensive.
Service was excellent as they allowed us to check-in much earlier than normally permitted. They responded to our request immediately, to change the light globes as they were so weak we could not see anything with the curtains closed. it was a very spacious room with a comfortable couch. It was very special sitting on the veranda in the early morning at the supplied table and chairs, having breakfast and watching and hearing just so many birds flying through the trees.

Shower needed a better shower head and it constantly dripped. Camp kitchen needs more amenities in such as chairs and table and mozzies zapper
