Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaCould have had a sink in the washroom with good lighting.
It was close to the airport and a central location for pick up and drop off for tours.

Close proximity to town, great facilities, clean and tidy, a home away from home. Julie was great she went over and above the expectations, was very friendly, and will be a forever friend.

Julie was a very welcoming host. She made sure I had everything I needed on arrival and offered to pick me up from the airport if needed. The place was clean, quiet and very comfortable. Walkable to the main attractions in Cairns.

AustraliaOpen plan living-room, including the kitchen which was well fitted and supplied more than we expected, the bed was large and comfortable, the dining area was quite sufficient. The bathroom was quite modern, although a mozzie-screen would have been an advantage. Owner was helpful, public transport was within easy walking distance, and often my wife and I chose to walk to the esplanade and city centre.

NetherlandsIt’s a bit further from the city centre but I didn’t mind the walk :)
Julie has a lovely home with different rooms so you’re not alone in the house which is nice to meet people. The house has everything you need, felt super comfortable being there for a few days and always nice to have a chat with Julie!

AustraliaAbout 10 min walk to the main road. Not a huge deal though.
Absolute value for money, Clean, quiet and comfortable. It has the privacy and connivence of a hotel on a hostel budget. Host also does airport pickup/dropoff for a small fee.

Papua New GuineaThe fact that I had to walk upstairs every time to use the bathroom and toilet, even in the middle of the night. :)
The room was very well set with comfortable bed, it felt very homey. Though bathroom and toilet facilities were shared, I commend on the cleanliness - Spotless and odorless!

AustraliaThe airlines were adding/cancelling flights, probably overestimating travellers' concerns over cyclones Jasper and Kirrily.
It was great to experience a traditional Queenslander only 15 mins walk from Cairns Central. I had no car but got bus day tickets for $2.40 as a senior and had day trips to Kuranda, the northern beaches and Green Island.

AustraliaThe walls are thin and we could hear the conversations from the room next door, being a light sleeper probably didn’t help as well.
The location was great, everything we had to go to were very accessible with just few mins drive. You have everything that you would expect or need in a homestay. Julie was very accommodating. She invited us for Christmas lunch which was quite nice.

AustraliaMinor complaints but in context of the rates, insignificant to the overall enjoyment of the stay. Provided other guests abide by the respectful, peaceful requests; it's a fabulous relaxed place to stay. Walking into town was brilliant for me to get my daily walk :)
Everything provided for a comfortable stay. Breezy, quiet location only 15 minutes walk to main shopping mall and a further 15 minutes walk to The Promenade.

United KingdomThe studio is essentially a room in the lower level of a Queenslander; as such, it is separated from other rooms just by doors that are locked and have a second security screen? I did not feel unsafe at all, but noise travelled A LOT. Had to tell both of my adjoining rooms to quiet down; they may have not realized as I, being alone and not using the TV, made little to no noise. It is a 30 min walk from the centre, personally I do not mind that but people unfamiliar with Cairns should be aware.
Spacious studio with a large bathroom, decent bed & kitchen, and the host is very attentive.

New ZealandIt wasn't the room that was in the photos I had from Booking.com or the description e.g. no open plan bathtub, I had a shower only. But it worked out ok for me. It wasn't as sound proof as it could be, maybe add some padding to the door leading to the other room next door to help reduce disturbing other guests.
I liked that it had what I needed.

AustraliaThe location doesn't count as Cairns central. So if you book some tours, they don't necessarily pick you up from the accommodation. But the walk to the Central Station as pick up point is just 20 minutes.
It was a nice and cozy place with an own entrance. I enjoyed my stay and Julie was really friendly. I would stay again!
