The limited reception hours meant that we had to wait for quite a while to check in and the need for us to both provide photo ID in a form that could be copied was quite unusual and frustrating.

The room was as described and comfortable. The location suited us as we could walk there from the ferry and walk to most of the places we wanted to visit.

Sleeping accommodation- shared dorm, no privacy, 5 bunks no curtaining/screening provided & no way to create any. Bed linen bit tatty.

Location - close to beach, shopping centre, restaurants. Nice vibe in communal areas, well equipped kitchen.

The location to the beach, village and ferry were all walkable. The Bunkhouse is an older building and partly a hostel with a garden and communal kitchen. Our private room had a high ceiling, a large window looking towards palm trees, green vegetation and the neighbours, but not intruding, lovely. The birds were singing in the morning. The room and bathroom, towels, bed, bedding were clean and comfortable. It was quiet at night. There was a super cafe near-by for breakfast and lots of activity at the beach. The Ferry to Sydney was often and a super way to enter the city!

Friendly and very helpful staff both on the internet , txt & face to face, easy walk to ferry terminal and local restaurants etc, other guests ( although a lot younger than myself!) were friendly & polite and after 2200 hrs never heard any one mattered

Don't be afraid to spray bleach everywhere in the bathroom to kill mold! Wifi doesn't reach back patio.

Kitchen is great. Surf boards to borrow are great.

No AC in the room and no ceiling fan, there was one standing fan that we placed in the middle of the room & had on the highest speed, it helped cool things down at night but the room got super hot during the day. The kitchen is quite small and gets busy at peak times. There is a day care centre right next to the hostel, so lots of small children noises starting from about 7am on weekday mornings - if sleeping with the windows open, you hear alllll the chaos.

I stayed in the 5-bed female dorm. The room was small but had an ensuite bathroom which was lovely. The hostel feels like a home and all the guests seem to know one another (a lot of long-term guests here). Amazing location! You can walk to Manly Beach in 5 min. And the bus stop is 3 min away so you can go into Manly easily and reach the ferry terminal. There are little “reading rooms” off the common area and at the end of the hallway on the 2nd floor which are perfect for reading or relaxing after a long day. The hostel is on a quiet residential street so not much car traffic / noise. The hostel staff are very welcoming and kind, which also contributes to the “homey” vibe of the place.

1. Kindergarten next door -- and someone there used to start a gasoline-powered lawn mower at 7am. I had no AC in the room so the window had to remain open. 2. The shower is not a shower cabin but rather a part of a bathroom. So the water from it gets all over the floor. 3. The mattress on the bed was a bit too soft -- I had some back ache because of it.

I stayed there for a week (7 nights). Nice location close to the Manly beach. Lots of restaurants and cafes in the area, decent grocery stores in the walking distance. I was staying in a twin room -- it had a small fridge that was very useful. The en-suite rooms in this hostel provide a good compromise between price and quality given that it's located in a very touristic area with expensive lodging options.

I resent the age discrimination forcing us to pay for a private room instead dorm rooms which we would have preferred.

I didn’t like the loud fan in the bathroom…

Location was very close to the beach (5 minutes by walk), shop and bus stop. Facilities on the room was superb (fridge, microwave oven, electric kattle, plates, bowls, …) Staff was very helpful (he gave us advices on where to eat, laundry service and help us with luggage).
