How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe room was large, comfortable, clean and spacious. It had all the amenities you could want in a hotel. The staff were all very friendly and professional. I have no complaints about the room.
The Encore buffet was very over priced. I often travel to FIFO camps for work - the type and standard of food on offer was about what I have come to expect from mining camp accommodation. It is definitely not worth $40+. I only ate at Encore on the first night of my stay. I went to Shingle Inn for my second night. I would suggest moving the Encore restaurant away from buffet style and offering a menu selection with options that match the prices.

Verified reviewI had breakfast down in the cafe and it was a waste of my money. My pancakes came out cold and so thick they hadn’t cooked in the middle. My chai latte was like warm and I’d waited a while for them

Verified reviewThe staff were so nice. The room was like new and the bed was like mine at home. We had a beautiful sleep and can’t fault the place in any way.
One young lady was a little sour.

Verified reviewThis is a nice hotel with decent facilities. We enjoyed the discount breakfast in the buffet and the kitchenette in our room. It was nice having the bar, restaurant and cafe on site. There was a good number of power sockets in the room and the wifi was a good speed.
A lack of storage locations in the room. Very little hanging and drawer space. It would have been nice to have a few extra options for lighting zones. And having to pay $15 per night for undercover parking was a surprise.

Verified reviewModern facilities
Since rebranding the place seems to be not a vibrant as before. The breakfast which was paid for in the room booking had to be booked otherwise they were trying to turn us away! The lady at the counter for breakfast had zero personality (shouldn’t be working in hospitality). Breakfast not worth paying for as compared to a couple of years ago, it’s half the offering and constantly had to ask for more milk (1 small jug for everyone to use), pancake machine kept stopping. As for the room, it makes you question how clean it really is when you walk in and the rubbish bin is still full from previous guests

Verified reviewClean and tidy, loved the new secure car park however not 100% secure as we noticed you didn’t need access code to come and go from car park
With the food buffet having to constantly as what allergies were in what for example we had a child that was anaphylactic to gluten and another allergy to dairy so we were constantly having to check with staff what was contained in what,so allergen labeling on the food would be amazing

Verified reviewWe didn't get undercover parking, and the entrance is in through the main doors of the sports club which is a bit off putting as you have to walk past people drinking and watching cable football.
Good morning Narelle Thank you for staying with us at the Mantra gladstone and taking the time in providing us with feedback from your stay. We have the ability for Mantra guests' to utilise the secure undercover car parking or use the onsite outdoor parking. The undercover parking is $15/night and can be organised at time of arrival. We are quite unique in the fact that we are attached to a non for profit Sports Club, where profits go back into the community a well as the properties facilities. We certainly do have one main entry for hotel guests as well as patrons to the Sports Club with hotel guests walking straight through to the Reception desk and patrons going to the club turning sharp right once through the front doors to the Members bar. Generally the Members bar is not that heavily occupied so it is very unfortunate that you must have arrived on a day where there was a crowd. I do hope that we may be able to change your mind and try us again but do appreciate the feedback. Kind Regards Craig General Manager

Was told that we didn’t need to book for breakfast as it was already included and prepaid for in our rate. Turn up for breakfast early (7am), the place was empty and they tried to turn us away stating their fully booked out (mind you, only one customer present in the restaurant at that time). After she escalated to her boss they managed to “find us” a seat (in an empty restaurant), but to turn up and to be told no you couldn’t dine there was absurd
Thank you Tammy for providing feedback of your recent stay with us. It was disappointing to hear that this particular visit was not as pleasant as previous experiences. Rest assured I have taken notes down from our conversation yesterday to work on our consistency in information provided as well as manner in which we communicate this through to our guests. Thank you again and look froward to welcoming you back in the near future, where the service will return back to what is expected by all. Kind Regards Craig General Manager

Verified reviewClean and comfy - great room service
Fire alarm in the morning and staff said it happens all the time Parking was $15 per night which is ridiculous for Gladstone Restaurant was terrible - do not eat there
Thanks Dyann for providing us with feedback from your stay Of late, yes, we have had a number of fire alarms, which is uncharacteristically high. We have been fortunate that they have all turned out to be false alarms. For all of the alarms that have gone off they have all been for various issues, from a sprinkler being knocked off by a guest, to a faulty smoke detector within a bathroom. We are fortunate to have ample car parking onsite, whether it is the secure car parking underneath or onsite outdoor parking. With limited secure parking spots available for all patrons of the Sports Club, Peppers and Mantra hotels we couldn't make it a first in first served basis. I am not sure if you have provided feedback of your dining experience through to the restaurant team upon dining at all but would love to gain an insight into your experience. Thank you again and look froward to hearing from you. Kind Regards Craig General Manager

Verified reviewWas very clean and comfortable. Good location. Staff were lovely, particularly the young girl on the desk when we checked in. And the lovely lady when we checked out at 4am.
It wasn’t the staffs fault but the power went out for a few hours and the lift was broken. But the staff were lovely and helpful
