Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was a little confusion about the hotel entrance, street signage and valet parking. We eventually ended up in the street behind the hotel in the delivery loading which was rather awkward. There also seems to be systems/communication issues between booking.com and the hotel. Staff had difficulty finding our bookings every time I rang the hotel. And I rang several times.
The hotel is well located and well priced.

AustraliaThere is no parking at the hotel (which i believe is the case with other hotels in Hobart). There is valet parking which cost $35 a day which works as long as you leave enough time to organise the car to be brought to hotel. Depending on time of day and how many are using valet it usually takes 20-25 minutes. TV is Foxtel based with no scope for logging into Netflix accounts etc. Can be noisy with bell ringing every 15 minutes from nearby church.
Friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast choices. Chocolate hour is definitely a winner. Excellent location to walk to shops, markets etc

New ZealandThe food, is simply just not great at all. A huge let down. The fried chicken was a joke, 4 tiny pieces (brought in crap, not made fresh either) for $16, some warm, undressed roquette leaves, and a mountain of disgusting ranch sauce. 1/10 complete crap. Who approved this? only a complete moron would. Then I had a Blat - terrible bread, dressed in rancid oil, soggy old tomato slices, 1 piece of bacon, nothing seasoned, old warm lettuce. And again, a mountain of aioli, the chips to be fair were ok, just not great. The brought in guacamole was disgusting, no fresh avocado slices. 2/10 Breakfast benny, was awful, Terrible black colored bread, seriously the worst bread I've ever had. 1 stingy piece of bacon, hollandaise with no acid or gastrique added to it, just no balls so to speak, and some apple juiliene strips that didn't in any way shape or form go with a benny. Eggs undercooked with runny whites. 0/10 The danish, cheeses, fruits,, etc on the continental all seemed fine, though the benny completely put me off eating anything more. Hotel itself is great, but boy ohh boy do they need a new Chef, and urgently so. Food is complete crap, people and myself should eat elsewhere.
hotel, location, staff are all excellant

AustraliaThe bed and pillows were incredibly luxurious and comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The room was warm and spotless, with excellent cleanliness throughout. The bathroom was very clean and new and modern too. A few thoughtful touches really stood out – the free daily chocolate hour was a lovely treat, and the kids especially loved the free ice cream each day. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better – right in the heart of the city and just a short walk to Salamanca Market. Our room also had a huge balcony, which was perfect for relaxing and taking in the surroundings. The restaurant Tesoro was also delicious.

AustraliaStaff in the restaurant are not as friendly as they should be, restaurant was understaffed and tables were available but not cleared for a long time, not too many options for Gluten Free, my room was also right by the lift so very noisy with people coming and going, also lots of water noises from above rooms constantly heard in my room, also my mini bar was never replenished during my whole stay. You also need toilet brushes in the bathrooms.
We had some lovely staff who accommodated our needs. Very central location, love the proximity to the wharf area, salamanca markets and tours

AustraliaNo negatives at the Moevenpick
Located in the heart of Hobart, 50 metres from the shopping mall . A short walk down to the harbour and the Salamanca area . Location is excellent . The hotel is extremely clean and comfy . Staff very well presented polite and helpful. The Chocolate hour from 3.30pm is a very special bonus. Lots of restaurants and close by . If you do go down to the harbour for a meal …you can get an Uber up the hill for $6. Ubers are inexpensive in Hobart.
