How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewLovely pet friendly home. Everything is there to accommodate yourself and your fur family. Pet beds, lead, water and food bowl. An umbrella near the door if needed. So close to the shop for milk. I went to buy milk and I was back within 2 minutes. I purchased washing powder, then realised there was some under the laundry tub. The host has you covered. So well thought out to make your stay comfortable.

Front garden is very untidy and there is a lot of rubbish strewn around which appears to be blown form the road. A bit of gardening and tidy up is required.
Unfortunately I can not control what blows into my front yard from the nearby restaurant and shops. Be nice if you could pick up and put in the bin seeing I’m not there,before it blows into the park and ocean. Admin why my total score on this review a 5, when individual scores add up to 7.9???

Verified reviewThis accommodation is very close to the walk ways to the beach and the restaurants and shops at Mudjimba. There is plenty of room for a large family or 2 couples :-) Our dog loved the outdoor space.
There was an issue but it has been raised with the owner and they were responsive to the feedback and I do not expect it will be an issue in the future. It would not stop us from coming back in the future however :-)

The storm that we encountered blew the gutters off the garage roof onto our Lexus, so our cost for the holiday jumped a thousand insurance dollars. It turns out the gutters didn’t appear to have a down pipe and the brackets were all rusted so water weight and decay made it an expensive stay.
So sorry your holiday was not as enjoyable as expected, due to the extreme stormy weather. This impacted many, our gutter (which has a drainpipe) was overwhelmed and broke off and since has been repaired. Hope your next holiday is much more fun. Your low score of 5 over this will negativity affect our approval rating permanently which we think is unfair.

Verified reviewThe location could not have been better. We were a few steps away from a local store and several great restaurants. The dog friendly beach was also very close by- which we all enjoyed on a daily basis. Our dog loved it too. The overall vibe of the area was lovely and friendly and we would love to return to this location asap!
The only problem we had was that the keys were not in the box at the front as expected. We called the real estate agent and we were able to locate another box where all keys were.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent due to proximity of the beach and cafes, restaurants and other food outlets. The back courtyard is private and secure for dogs but a section of the fence in the back right hand corner may need some attention due to there being a fair gap underneath it. The outdoor facilities are very good and would be very pleasant in summer.
The uneven pavers on the back patio caused by being lifted by tree roots are a trip hazard.
