How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Furnishings and loose items haven't been updated in a long time. Pillows are all paper thin/squashed, mattresses are lumpy, kitchen utensils are all blunt/average. No wifi at all (paid or otherwise). Let's down what would otherwise be a great place to stay

Verified reviewLocation and layout of apartment. The view was simply stunning and the balcony is a very generous size. Internal fixtures are modern and furniture/inclusions were adequate. It was cleaned to a good standard.
It is a 2 bedroom apartment but only got 1 key for the front door and undercover parking - there were two adults (friends) in separate cars and this made access very awkward. The locked box arrival information could be improved. Furnishings were adequate but not cohesive. The tea/coffee station to welcome us only had 2 sugars. There were cracked tiles on the balcony and the sun loungers were broken. There isn't enough parking bays that didn't have 'private parking' signs which you are not allowed to use and they were almost always full so both guests had to park on the street most of the time. It is at the top of a very steep hill, which is not walkable for everyone. One of the bathrooms has a shower over a bath set up, enclosed in a fixed glass screen that was difficult to get into and out of.

Verified reviewThe view was exceptional and the layout of the unit and the size was roomy, it had plenty of what we needed. When I had to contact the hosts about a plumbing issue, they were very responsive .=
There was a lot that was wrong ! There was no Wi-Fi. The outdoor furniture was all broken and torn. There was a beautiful big balcony and 2 broken sun lounges, that could not be used. the outdoor chair cushions for the couch were torn and stained. The plastic outdoor chairs were mouldy and brittle and broken. The air conditioners worked well but were really noisy. The basin in the ensuite was clogged, and filled with water after brushing our teeth etc. We needed to buy Draino and spend an hour unblocking it . One of the sliding doors continually got stuck. There was a mop but not bucket to clean up spills, there was a vacuum cleaner that was held together with duct tape and simply did not work. The pillows are well passed their use by dates; we drove into Rockhampton to buy new ones. The money we paid was no cheap and was worth it for the view and location but was definitely not worth it for the tired state of the furniture and the fittings & fixtures in the unit. The complex was clearly well cared for, but there was no recycles bin, which meant all the recyclables went in the main bin. A charity bin from containers for Change etc, would be ideal.

The wifi kept dropping out. It took some time to get on to Netflix. Once I did this, it dropped out a couple of time. I then had to go back in to the settings reload the wifi.

Verified reviewThe location and the view were amazing. The beds were really comfortable and the unit was really quite clean. While the bath in the main ensuite was a little tricky to navigate, there was plenty of hot water and the shower was lovely. Free parking was a definite bonus.
There was little not to like, but a few things that are easily improved on. We were two couples staying in a 2 bedroom unit and were only provided with 1 key. There were only a few dishes in the kitchen on our arrival, but we found them in the dishwasher the next day. The batteries in the remote were also flat. Just little things.

Verified reviewThe location and view was top notch. All of the living and cooking essentials for the were provided. The view of Sunrise from the balcony is amazing.
The place was looking a little tired. A few things weren't working like the extractor and some lights. The cooking knifes were so blunt we had to buy a cooking knife. But having said that we loved the stay and would definitely stay there again.
