Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Great location and beautifully furnished. Very comfy beds. Loved all the little extra touches like games and books and a selection of teas and hot chocolate. Wished we could have stayed longer.

AustraliaLOVED everything
INCREDIBLE cottage - best airbnb we have stayed in - every detail thought of - from rain jackets in the garage (we needed them!), beautiful bathroom amenities, an honesty bar, fully equiped kitchen and beautiful interiors. We loved the gas fire and the record player - the selection of records bought back many great memories. The beds were very cosy and comfy, with beautiful linens. Location was perfect, a 3 minute stroll down the hill to town. Port Campbell the perfect quiet town to explore this stunning region including all the wonders of the Great Oceean Road. The cottage was the highlight of our Great Ocean Road adventure with our family - thank you!

AustraliaIt was missing a Big Screen, but the kids soon got over that...
It was a very cosy little cottage and took us back in time. The kids enjoined playing the old fasion board games in the table and playing the old fashion records was a highlight.

MalaysiaOur only minor comment is on the bathroom outside (there are 2 baths), where the water was cold even though we waited 20-30 minutes after turning up the heat.
We love the house! The fireplace, the old school music CD player, the living room, the whole vibe! Overall, this is the best accommodation we have stayed in our vacation to Melbourne. Thank you for the beautiful memory that we will treasure for a life time.

United KingdomThe cottage has some awkward little steps up and down within it, just a factor of its old design. Wasn’t a problem for us but may be for others. A small container of milk in the fridge for those staying one night would be a great extra touch for convenience but there is a shop not too far away.
We had the most amazing stay at Port Cottage. Clear instructions to get in and a great book of local recommendations. The cottage is beautifully restored with stunning decor, the most comfortable beds and a lovely backyard area. Walking distance down the hill into town and to the beach. The hosts have clearly put their hearts into making every guest’s stay as wonderful as possible, with a lot of generous and thoughtful touches. From chocolate covered pretzels and a welcome note on arrival, to hot chocolate and popcorn available in the pantry, luxury appliances and kitchenware, ring toss for family games in the backyard, a guest book to sign, a stunning scent throughout the cottage and a well stocked bar if you want to mix up a cocktail at home (paid for separately). Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer! We will definitely be back for another visit. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

AustraliaEverything was perfect. No complaints.
What a quaint and beautiful property this is. Old-world charm meets modern convenience with every room styled perfectly. Little details like the liquor cabinet, record player, and guestbook make this a special stay. Perfect for a winter stopover on the Great Ocean Road (close to the 12 Apostles) the gas fireplace creates a cosy home and the generous claw-foot bathtub perfect for a warm, relaxing soaking after a long day sightseeing. A short 2min walk into Port Campbell Main Street and beachfront makes for a great location.

AustraliaMost unsatisfactory. I know I should have checked beforehand that we had received the lock-box code but we were busy and I didn't. And we didn't have it. So we arrived 5-ish after a full day, tired and needing to collapse and couldn't get in. We looked through our paperwork, checked back on all emails and walked round the house in case we had missed something. We phoned the manager, who got back to us quite quickly. She said "have you paid?". I assured her that we had paid, and payment cleared, several days before. "Oh, we're having issues with Booking.com" was the only explanation. She did give us the key-code on the phone, but this was 30-40 minutes after we arrived. I wasn't looking for anything over the top but a simple apology would have been nice, and appropriate. No chance.
Location was terrific, 400 metres from centre of Port Campbell. , Quaint, well-appointed cottage.

AustraliaThere was a storm overnight and the front screen door couldn’t be easily secured from slamming open and shut every couple of minutes in the wind. Seems a simple latch could help secure the front door to avoid disturbance of sleeping guests. We had to get creative with doorstops to keep the door in place so we could sleep.
The cottage offered a great deal of comfort. The home was charming and the hosts have thought of so many details to make visitors feel at home. I appreciate the attention to having a local seaside experience. I was impressed that the home was so impeccably clean. Simply perfect.

AustraliaI did feel it was a over styled. There were so many props and books and things that every surface area was covered so it felt like we couldn’t just relax, we had to move things first so we could use the coffee table for example.
It felt very homey and comfortable. a great spot for a winter getaway!

AustraliaWe absolutely loved the place. Everything you need for a very comfortable stay is here. The cottage is so beautifully decorated and the interior design is stunning. The kitchen is great to cook in with such an array of utensils and equipment. The cottage had a cute little french chic museum vibe to it..the bath and open fire add to the the cosiness. Our stay was too short and we will be back again for sure.
