How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing to do with the house but there was a murder nearby the day we were arriving so there was a lot of police and roads closed near by.

Verified reviewGreat location, private, well equipped and clean, we enjoyed a week here with our large family, all rooms were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed, large fridge, plenty of space, loved the verandah and views. Air-cons in the bedrooms were great.
Living areas had no air-con, but had a nice breeze through the lounge , and we were out most days so it didn't worry us too much.

Verified reviewThe house is very spacious - the living room, kitchen and deck are all massive with plenty of seating, plus the bedrooms are a great size too (lots of space for luggage). Excellent and peaceful location; only a short 10-minute walk to the beach. I liked the Kookaburras and other birds visiting on the deck - plus there were lovely sunsets which we enjoyed from the deck. Lovely tranquil spot to read a book or have a drink with family/friends and enjoy the views, trees and wildlife.
We found the master bedroom mattress very soft to the point it was uncomfortable for us. The en suite in the master bedroom was a tad small, ie, a shelf beside the sink would be handy to be able to put toiletries on; and shower gel would have been a nice touch. Our friends were from overseas and would have appreciated access to wifi, but there wasn't any wifi available.

Verified reviewCockroaches everywhere in the kitchen and property. Dishwasher was clogged up with dirty water and full of mould. Had to leave the property after staying only one night because our home on the Gold Coast was affected by a tornado on Christmas evening, losing power for what ended up to be 4 days. I let the property management know on Boxing Day prior to leaving that we had to leave due to an emergency situation and I never received any correspondence back. No one asked if we were okay or offered a discount on our accommodation. Really, I am just disappointment about the cleanliness and lack of communication, I understand it was on the Christmas break but it has been 1 whole month now and the only messages I have received are about providing a review. So there you go, there is my review.

The dishwasher has since been replaced with a new one and there are no signs of any cockroaches now. We are sorry you had to cut your stay short due to a weather emergency at home. It’s disappointing that you rated this home so poorly as it’s in an excellent location and very comfortable.

Verified reviewLovely location, nice and quiet away from the main highways. There was some friendly magpies there which the kids were thrilled with, one of them came and ate from my sons hand. Everything was very functional and the kitchen was well appointed which made an easy stay with a family.

Verified reviewClose to everything. Air conditioned bedrooms with fans. BBQ was good. Feeding the Kookaburras by hand was amazing. Good kitchen and laundry facilities. Handy having a garden hose available. Glad there was a fan in the lounge, was nice to sit under. Nice big fridge & freezer.
Coming from inland NSW it would have been nice to have the lounge room air conditioned as we are not used to the heat and humidity, so glad the bedrooms were though.

Verified reviewgreat views and close to everything we needed. House has been raised and very spacious accommodation all of it on one floor. relaxing large veranda area upstairs. All amenities very well self contained. Really quiet, peaceful and private.
Couldn’t fit my Toyota Rav 4 in narrow garage and big pole in the middle of 2 garages. Not enough space to open door to get out of car so had to leave car outside. No washing basket or airer for clothes in the laundry. No wifi connection. Couch has seen better days and could do with a clean. Very steep driveway.
