Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe kitchen is very small, so during communal feeding hours, it's extremely tight.
Location is good for sure, and the price will be hard to beat for what you are offered.

Germany- the bathroom was most of the time dirty, I guess because there are not many bathrooms for so many people - it is really busy, it seemed like a lot of people already knew each other and stay there long term which makes it hard to meet people
+the beds are really comfortable +the breakfast and dinner is really good

AustraliaThe toilet is so small, you need to squeeze yourself into it in order to shut the door behind you. Same goes to the shower room.
Free breakfast provided. Kitchen and lounge are connected so you can still cook some meals if you want to.

GermanyI stayed there in winter and it felt like it was freezing cold in the hostel 24/7. They also only provide you with thin blankets instead of a warm duvet. They also ventilate the hostel most of the time which made it even colder. I stayed there for almost two weeks and caught a cold because I was freezing so much. Another minus point is the security. Not only that the front door of the hostel was broken and just stayed open even during night time but they also put the PIN code for the dorm rooms on the OUTSIDE of the dorm door after they had changed it. My friend felt really unsafe because of this and when we confronted the staff they firstly seemed to not care about it and only when we stayed consistent agreed to change the code one more time. So we didn’t feel as they would take our safety concerns seriously. And you should not be afraid of cockroaches when you stay in this hostel. Although the hostel and all the dorms get cleaned daily, you will come across cockroaches not only on the rooftop but also in the dorms and the kitchen area.
The hostel has an amazing price-performance ratio. The big highlight is that they provide you with food twice a day - dinner even gets cooked freshly every single day! The hostel is located very close by to the botanical gardens and it takes only around 30 minutes to walk to the opera house. It is a very social hostel, most of the guests stay for long-term because they are doing work and travel. Overall it has a really friendly atmosphere.

GermanyDuring the breakfast and dinner time it was very crowded and packed at the ground floor. Do not expect very healthy meals or something special, but for the price and a short stay the served food is good and you easily can connect and socialise.
The beds are very nice with extra light a mirror and enough space to store things, the roof terrace is very cool and bathrooms mostly clean

Czech RepublicOn the downside, the hostel offers very limited storage space – both in the rooms and in general. If you're traveling with more belongings, it can be a bit of a challenge and requires constant reorganizing. The sanitary facilities are also a bit worn – some areas suffer from leaks, mold, and doors that don’t close properly, and there's a slight lack of them overall.
The staff was very helpful and clearly put effort into making guests feel welcome. The sleeping pods are comfortable and offer a good level of privacy, with convenient built-in power outlets. Having breakfast and dinner included in the price is a great bonus – it adds a lot of value for money and is definitely a reason to consider coming back.

Slovakialots of people staying long term on WHV, so not easy to socialise when you are travelling and want to exchange experience. The only BIG minus is that people staying in long term are vaping, smoking electronic cigarettes like it would be their own living room in the common areas, even if it is prohibited in policy
comfy bed, staff, option of the cooking your own

Slovakiaall hostel is mainly full of people looking for job on WVH, all of them french and spanish speakers only, what can be advantage if you want to improve your french or spanish 🙃 however, it is not social hostel to exchange your travelling experience, 80% of the people are living there, so it is kind of big brother watching you life experience :)

ItalyThe building is pretty old and you can see it. Some renovations may be needed, especially in the bathrooms. There aren’t many toilets for the number of people staying on each floor. During the weekend it can get noisy.
The staff is super friendly and it’s great to have breakfast and dinner included! The rooftop is great! Perfect to have dinner or chill during the day in the sun. For the price is a very good deal.
