Strange place, it looks like a hotel but is run like an Airbnb - no staff around and all communication via text. The whole place smelt of chinese food from the onsite restaurant which wasn't open. The light switch for the bathroom didn't work and we were told over text they were aware of this and would fix - they didn't. The room was a family room but very small and the bathroom tiny. No air conditioning, the room was hot even in autumn. There was a control panel on the wall supposedly for aircon and heating but it didn't work and there are no vents in the room at all for any air con. Bit of a con really...

Place felt & looked rundown. Small space to move in with chairs, floor fan & floor heater taking up valuable space. Windows difficult to open as winders are rusty. Bathroom tap assembly difficult to turn on & off, &, no hot water as tap under sink turned off - l turned it on. Not worth $175! Sorry, we will not be returning.

Locality was good. Beds were comfortable. Quiet night. TV & shower worked well. Off street parking was adequate.

Rooms were small and cramped. We booked a deluxe family room with kitchenette and washing machine, but were changed last minute to a room without these, with no real explanation. We were told we would be refunded the difference but have yet to see it. Beware that there is no air conditioning and we were not left a fan for our main room and had to wait for someone to drop one off after 9pm at night (there are no staff on site). The corridor leading to the rooms smelt of cooking oil (probably due to the separately run restaurant at the front of the building). Overall this just worked for us for an overnight transit stop, but you’d be disappointed if you booked multiple nights here.

The location was good. Beds were comfy and shower good, which was all we really needed for an overnight transit

Lack of parking for guests. Also the shower rail in the bathroom was broken and held together with sticky tape. I would think for $700 for 5 nights the bathroom facilities would have been useable.

Nice and close to the city.

However, the room was not serviced the whole 5 nights I stayed there and it was rather impersonal, since I didn't run into the owner until half-way through my stay. I didn't even realize she lived upstairs. Not like it was when I stayed there a year ago with the old owners, who were very friendly.

The Dannebrog is very well located, not far from the main part of Devonport and the buses, and not far from the Bluff. It is right on Victoria Parade, which couldn't be better. The beds were very comfy.

hahah where do I begin wow the room was tiny, my husband had to come out of the bathroom to dry and dress it was that small (honestly) I have never seen such a small room (glad we were not bigger people) there were no coffee cups but I understand this as there was a coffee shop on premise but not open when we were there. I understand this lodge may be for backpackers but please do not charge $164 a night 🤨

The restaurant had different owners from the hotel, and had strange opening hours. 2 of 3 mornings I didn't get breakfast before going out sightseeing. And what could have been nice evenings on the terrace with a drink, never happened since the restaurant was closed again. But if your after brunch, it would be a good place I guess.

    Really nice and friendly hosts.
