How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A slightly gloomy room (109) and the decor was tired. It was disappointing that our sheets weren’t changed in our five day stay, despite asking politely - they needed to be.
Central location in Port Douglas, underground parking and a friendly welcome. The Newport was quiet. Lots of towels, including beach towels!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Newport. Kitchen is very well equipped, very spacious. Nice outdoor BBQ facilities. Location is fantastic - couldn’t get any better.

Car park was a bit small. Not enough parking bays available.
Great location. Close to the shops, restaurants and the beach. The pool was nice and relaxing after a day of sightseeing with a lovely BBQ area. A great place to be able to relax and enjoy with a nice quiet atmosphere.

Rm 108 is a little tired but clean compared with our friends Rm114 and we booked the same type of accommodation. Rm 108 didn't have a dishwasher and had a smaller fridge.
Great location, helpful friendly staff, lovely warm pool, so handy to everything and supermarket across the road. On the main street but mostly quiet - could hear some music in the nearby bars as we had our window open. We had a One bedroom unit ground floor with a patio no view (Rm108) and our friends had a large balcony over looking the pool (Rm 114). Comfortable bed - the singles joined together didn't worry us. The underground carparking a bonus although the parks are very tight.

To be honest there would only be the bathroom cupboards that were very chipped that I would change.
We loved the location of Newport, even though it is on the main street it is set back so that you can not hear the hustle and bustle from the main road. The heated pool was divine and was used every day by us. Our one bedroom apartment was perfect for our needs, it could do with a little tlc as it was an old building but it was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had great pressure. Our little patio area was wonderful to sit in and feel the warmth. Staff were open and friendly and very accommodating.

Our bed had a very big lump in the middle where the two mattress join. We didn’t expect this for a king size bed and made it a little uncomfortable.

Apartment was small and balcony looked.over another property wasteland. Time to get rid of the bath and install a shower ....hard to shower without flooding the bathroom ... we didn't attempt the jacuzzi bath!!

Fabulous central location. We arrived after 5pm but key instructions were clear and it was easy to get our key. The instructions to find our room were excellent. We did end up on 3rd floor but stairs are substantial with good hand rails on both sides. A kind fellow guest took our 2nd suitcase up! The guests in fact are a friendly bunch and several people were returning guests (a good sign). The manager who is in the office from 8 to 5 is very helpful and knowledgeable with help delivered with a smile. The apartment has a separate sitting room and a kitchen with a full size refrigerator. The multiple ceiling fans give lovely cooling breezes.

All was good.
Great location right in the heart of everything. Our room was excellent , clean and spacious with a large comfy bed, well stocked kitchen, free WiFi which was excellent. Very powerful shower with plenty of toiletries supplied. Easy 10-15 walk to the marina if going on a boat trip etc. Overall a very good place to stay.
