Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaGorgeous old building that has kept its unique charm despite it's age! The fireplaces are a massive plus and there are sooo many comfy spots to curl up after a day of exploring Hobart! Affordable, like so reasonably priced! You're not just paying for a bed, you get a full on Tassie experience just from hanging out in the communal spaces! The location is perfect; close enough to walk everywhere but at the end of a busy street so a little bit quieter! The staff are so chill, really appreciated the vibe! Mutual respect amongst travellers and genuine opportunities to engage in social activities that don't break the bank! I'm a Melbourne girl, and when I need a break from the chaos of Vic I pop down to Tassie and it never fails to satisfy! Thanks for having me, will definitely be back with friends asap 🤘💚🐸

AustraliaThe rooms smells a little bit bad, as well, are 14 people sleeping in the same place, so is understandable.

ItalyI stayed for only two days but I can tell that the kitchen and bathrooms are not ideal if you plan to stay long. The WiFi often is not working. No lockers in the dorm, just a common shelf and a small couch (!?). The kitchen is small and needs a deep clean. There isn't a lot of space and equipment to cook, the management should provide the guests boxes to store the food (maybe to borrow, like in many other hostels) and update the fridges (they are few and small, considering the amount of people in the hostel). You can find multiple showers and bathrooms only on the first floor, on the ground floor you can find only the toilets.
Great vibes, beautiful common area, private bathroom in the dorm and good location, near the centre.

AustraliaThe men's bathroom were really bad. No space, no privacy, not that clean. There is a really good atmosphere so people are happy, which is a good thing except when you want to sleep and that your bedroom is next to the lounge.
The lounge was really nice. Large room with big couches, nice reading area. It's a really nice place when you are in your 20's and love to talk to strangers.

AustraliaThe kitchen sometimes was clean but sometimes was messy, but maybe because people didn’t wash their dishes after using them. Also the fridge had a bad smell but again, maybe too many food for one fridge. I didn’t enjoy the bathrooms but it is not a hotel so it is comprehensive.
The 6 beds room was nice, people were quiet all the time, lights were turned off early at night, the bed was good, maybe the pillow was very flat but it was still ok.

AustraliaNo fridge in room and fridges in kitchen were full. The wait at reception could be slow but I did appreciate the receptionist taking the time with us to show us our room and the facilities so can’t expect speedy service when the same courtesy is shown to others.
Room and bed was comfortable. I didn’t realise I had booked a backpackers so I was shocked when I arrived. This changed when I saw how friendly the staff and other guests were and how clean the facilities were. Great location. Staff were very helpful and polite.

AustraliaI booked for a twin, which fortunately I didn't need, but is not what I got. It is some time since I've stayed at a hostel and forgot that this one didn't have an en suite or a cafe. I don't like going to the ladies toilet late at night. I didn't realise (and that could be my fault) that no towels were supplied. A bit of a nuisance.
It was convenient to where I needed to go on Saturday

I liked the quietness of the room we had - even though it was par of the overall backpackers it was separated and very easy to relax in. I liked the fact that the Pickled Frog was early always open and accessible. I liked th cleanliness of the room.

AustraliaRoom #1 has totally preventable EXIT sign with massive flashing light 24/7 not allowing any guests to sleep properly . This is the only room ive seen this in after staying in. Dozens of hostels around the world where the guessst have to literally building blanket and clothes fortressses to be able to close the eyes at night. All the toilets latches and around the door knobs had years of accumulated filth.... And soap dispenses empty.
Great vibes from everyone
