    The beds were comfy

The noise in the room was absolutely terrible, the staff were very blaze and the food was terrible in the restaurant. There was also an unpleasant odour in the place. We ended up leaving a day early.

It is a marvellous grand dame of a building in an excellent location, rich in history. The old lift is charming and the stained glass and architectural features fascinating. My room, 212 Billy Hefferin, was spacious, clean and, if not having a view, was on the sunny side with a distant view to the clock tower. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and there's a good lock-up cupboard for storing luggage. I appreciated being given a quiet room.

I would have preferred more room in the fridge for personal items, rather than it being full of drinks/products. The wifi was a bit intermittent, so I used my own data. I was glad that I didn't have to pay a night's deposit as that was in the message I received from the hotel, after I had booked and prior to checking in. A microwave would have been helpful. Good shortbread biscuits - bring your own coffee!

Room was lovely, shower was great, dinner was really good, staff were really friendly. Unfortunately the breakfast wasn't good. The plate was cold, the butter rock hard, the egg overcooked and the bacon over cooked like leather. Really loved the historical hotel and beautiful stain glass windows. If there was space it would be nice to have a lounge area downstairs.

    Breakfast and coffee really weak

Dinner was okay, cheap and cheerful for seniors meals. Large restaurant, nicely set up. Friendly staff. Great historic building, fascinating. First class location, close to events, gardens and restaurants.

Check out unmanned, at 9 in the morning it should be staffed for ease of payment and bill checking. Building is needing an update but still well worth a visit.

It’s an old and historic hotel and is what it is. Some lovely features in its architecture and interiors. I knew what I was getting so I was happy with my choice.

There was nothing to not like for the reasons above.

Stayed for one night as we were attending a Candle Light concert. Lovely friendly Tracey checked us in…. Had dinner in the bistro, which was very nice.

Disappointed that there was nowhere to have a Guinness because bistro was closed by the time we got back from concert around 9:15pm then to find the downstairs Bar closed due to Private function, ended up in the Pokies Bar but to many Rowdy drinkers…..🫤

Great location in the heart of town. Staff were very friendly. Bedroom was spacious and the bed was comfortable

There were electrical wires exposed and just covered with tape in the bathroom. Cracks in wall, very dusty, TV kept dropping out. There was a blown light globe in one of the lights and one of the blinds was broken. Pillows were hard and fat. We were in room 310 and it was so noisy with cars revving and hooning at night and people walking past the room talking in the hallway, it was extremely loud and hard to sleep. Very tired hotel and in desperate need of a renovation

Amazing grand place. Full of style.

We booked the spa room, but when we got there they told us it wasn't available due to water damage. As this was one of the main reasons for booking, we wish they told us beforehand.
