How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Couldn’t book in on site. Having to book via the internet is a pain. If the young lady wasn’t there to help me, I would have gone on.

This motel has a nice feel about it. Definitely older but well maintained and looked after. Great value for money and close to main shopping area.

Overall, our stay was pleasant and the room met our expectations. However, the bathroom floors were very slippery—our son slipped, which was quite dangerous. We strongly urge management to address this issue to ensure guest safety. Aside from that, everything else was fine.
The room was spacious and very clean—perfect for our family of four. We especially appreciated that the kids had a separate area of their own, which they absolutely loved. Having access to Netflix and YouTube was a pleasant surprise and kept them happily entertained throughout our stay. A great choice for families!

We couldn't fill the kettle, unless we used cups and there were no coffee sachets, (we don't know how to use coffee machines) We had travelled for 7 hours, arriving after 7 pm, to find we couldn't work out how to get into our room. The confirmation email mentioned the room code and room #, . would be sent via another email from a third party and if we didn't receive it, it meant that our credit card details had not been received by the Tree Motel. This was confusing, because the room was paid for via Booking.com and the funds already deducted from our bank. No email with the room # and code had been received, so we rang a number that i had to get from Booking.com (there was no out of hours number on the reception door), to try to give them our credit card details. An answering machine answered and we entered the number which meant we were locked out and got a reply to say, our call had been logged, they'll pass the message onto the Tree Motel.. However there was no contact until 10.30am the next day! After sitting in the car for more than half an hr, with the engine running ocassionally to keep warm, we eventually discovered that the information had been sent by SMS!! not email. Might seem a minor detail, but not helpful when you're directed to an email, when you are tired, hungry and cold and obviously not thinking as sharply as you might if circumstances were different. On top of that, it was extremely disappointing that even though we rang to say we were locked out, we were not contacted until 10.30am the next day... via an SMS to ask if we still had a problem, and have never received a call to discuss what went on... a simple follow up call would have been appreciated.
The bed was the most comfortable, we'd slept in, in 3 weeks!! and the hot water was hot as soon as you turned the water on.. we have never experienced that. Loved that the fridge had a freezer compartment, and the room had a microwave. The room was a little dated, but very clean.

The shower didn't have a screen (room 11)so water wasn't contained and soaked the bathroom floor...
The location was easy to find and convenient...and the checking in and out process was easy also...

The AC unit didn't work properly. The remote control to the TV did not work

Didn’t receive any check in instructions as we didn’t have an Australian phone number, although the information on booking.com stated we would receive an email, the hotel staff told us they don’t send emails just texts to non-International numbers. There was no one around to check us in at 2pm so we had to wait for someone to turn up. Bathroom very small

There were some communication problems as no staff were on site and the Goki app did not work, so room access problems occurred.
The location was good, it was quiet and comfortable and near to a shopping centre . Also close enough to walk to town, the beaches were a short drive away. Easy to find and great view of the boating area across the road.
