Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe living area was very cold and quite dark. The air-con blows on top of a bookcase so doesn't heat the room.
Excellent location - walk to everything or sit on the deck and watch the activity in the main street. The upstairs bedrooms were spacious and comfortable.

AustraliaThe people in the upstairs room talked loudly and walked around until 1am both nights. On the second night I actually had to go and ask them to be quiet. There is no soundproofing between the upper and lower levels. It is an old building probably not much can be done. I don't really blame anyone. It was really just unfortunate - they were enjoying themselves and I was keen to sleep.
Location, history - it was a nice inviting space.

AustraliaWasn't properly cleaned, skirtings, backs of doors, window sills all needed a wash. No TV, no hairdryer, no scourer to clean dishes, towels okay but only one washer and hand towel and both were very old. Description on web said two bedrooms but it had one bedroom and bunk beds in the living area. We left early and lost one nights accommodation because it was so uncomfortable. We added two nights with the owner directly because we received an email from them to say you charge 15% so to book directly. We thought that was a bit cheeky given that we only found them through your site. When I spoke to the owner he said there were lots of restaurants and eating places but on Monday night nothing was open. The photos on the web are very deceptive. Very over priced this is basic accommodation billed as boutique hotel but there was no service at all. LT

AustraliaThe problems started after check in. The wrong wifi code was given and that resulted in exchange of texts. I finally sorted it out. We discovered that the room had no tv! At almost $300 per night I expected a reasonable tv. But nothing. They had a small tablet similar to a small IPad but it didn’t work via the Google Chat. It was plugged in on top of the small refrigerator so you had to stand to watch it, if it worked.. So no news of current affairs programmes and certainly no regular tv. They had hosts who were never on site made no helpful suggestions. The hotel had no hair dryer and when I enquired why was told people stole them so they were not replaced. This was unbelievable and I sent them a text and asked for check out after day one. The hosts consisted of husband and wife and she was totally unhelpful. Her husband did phone me and directed me to another room where there was a hairdryer. The hotel is a very old historic building and although some cosmetic renovations have been completed, it was substandard considering the price. There were no other guests staying. Our room was supposed to have a garden view but the garden contained rubbish, old timber and unfinished renovation work debris. I have attached a photo of the view. We did stay the two nights reluctantly.
The location in the Main Street is central and within easy walking distance to shops etc. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean and tidy. Linen was provided. There was cereal provided along with milk and fruit juice. There was a Nespresso machine but no milk frother.

AustraliaLight management of bedroom at night - harder to sleep with it coming in the slit glass in one wall. Would have preferred to be able to open the window onto the river even a little, for fresh air rather than air con.
continental breakfast very nice Loved the restoration work on an iconic heritage building. Nice to see solo travellers being catered for so well...not always the case!

Oh the Monte Carlo Penthouse- what more could I have wanted? What a charming tribute to my favourite biscuit company! I loved the attention to detail in decorating, the stunning bathroom and all the incredible Arnott’s collectibles. I’ve never sent people video tours of my accommodation before- but I couldn’t resist. I was tickled pink. I could never bring my husband here- I’d be worried he’d try to steal so much of your decor! Great location in the middle of Swan St, but so quiet. My only disappointment was that I didn’t have time to use that beautiful bath. My absolute favourite detail though, was the special treat in the kitchen- the cherry on top of the sundae that is this delightful property.

United StatesThere was no wifi available during our stay. When we asked about this the owner refunded us $50 and told us to get a Sim to sort out our own wifi. There was also no parking provided by the hotel which is advertised on the site. Also the bathroom light didn't work, upon our own investigation it required charging that we were responsible for. There were also unsightly marks on the ceiling particularly right above the bed. We had hired the upper level, however during our stay other guests came up the stairs to investigate the accommodation while we were using the shower. Upon questioning this with the owner, she said they were not guests and then accused us of leaving the front door unlocked for these strangers to break in. Also there was no inclusion of any Arnott's biscuits... which really would almost have been an obvious choice if customer service was a priority.
The location was great and the history of the building.

AustraliaThere wasn't anything we didn't like. Although people who are not used to wooden floors may find the floor creaking differently from what they are expecting. However, this is part of the charm.
It is in an ideal and central location that makes it easy to get around town. It is close to cafes and antiques, convenience stores within the town. The town has a very old school vibe but is also close to larger shopping centres if you can't find what you are looking for. The accommodation is well thought out and the Vovo room is large enough for a couple or small family.

AustraliaThe window frames were not sealed so bugs got in. The toilet had a lovely layer of mosquitoes on the ceiling...seriously the place is by a river!! There was visible mold on the vinyl tubs in the lounge; the place was dusty; there were spider webs and the odd cockroach or two.. The bed-clothes were either old & faded or were dirty. My daughter was afraid there would be bed bugs. The air-con unit did not reach the main bedroom so either we cooked or we let the bugs in. Curtains were cheap & flimsy, so on the ground floor by the street offered little privacy. We will NEVER stay in this over-priced dump again.
Seriously?!!

AustraliaExtreme mould smell in lower bunk bed. Perhaps wall or floor had rising damp? Still have cough from breathing mould. No TV, no garden or ability to sit outside. Poor ventilation, very musty throughout. Despite located on lovely river disappointed i couldn't see it or sit by it despite seeing a backyard area that was chained off to guests. Very expensive for 2 musty rooms in an old house...

South KoreaNO HOT WATER !!!!! i was there for a wedding- i couldn’t shower before the wedding, so due to timing i left for wedding - as id had my hair done and had to get my mother who was staying across the street at The Bronte. When i arrived home that night- i really wanted a shower - again NO HOT WATER!!! There was nothing I could do about it until morning. I got up to shower at 8/8.30 and again NO HOT WATER!!!! I contacted the owners ( ?- someone) and they said it would be fixed in an hour. I didn’t have that time as I had a plane to catch. So i ran across the street to THE Bronte & showered in my mothers room. I contacted the owner via text again and suggested that I somehow be compensated for this total inconvenience. All they said was that hot water system was installed last week! Not sure how that was relevant ti my predicament right now- but it was “crickets” on any compensation or apology. Very disappointing.
The location was great. Bed was comfy. Room was very quaint.
