How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified review1. Car parked next to the room. Convenient.
1. Our original expected arrival time was 7 PM, but our Google Maps failed and directed us to the wrong place. We ended up arriving at 9 PM. 2. The reception was closed, and we rang the bell many times, but no one responded. It was freezing. 3. As a tourist, I can hardly make a local call (my card is only for internet). I spent 30 minutes standing outside the reception while trying to figure out how to make a call with my HK SIM card. 4. Finally, I was able to contact the host, but instead of trying to understand our situation, he scolded me on the phone for a minute. When he reached out to me, he scolded us for several more minutes. 5. He said, "You need to let people know what you are doing." Yes, I planned to arrive by 7 PM, but accidents happen. 6. I have traveled to hundreds of countries, staying in different hotels, and have never encountered accommodations that require guests to inform them of arrival times as a strict policy. Normally, the host would just put the key somewhere and allow for self-check-in. 7. The host said, "I don't know if you are turning up or not." Come on, I paid for it. Even if I arrived at midnight, your room should have been ready for me. 8. If you can't be flexible with the check-in time, I think you are not suitable for operating accommodations. You'd be better off offering daytime check-in only. 9. I don't understand why I needed to be scolded by you. It's super ridiculous. I paid, and I was scolded. What did I do wrong? Just because I arrived at 9 PM and didn't notify the host? Crazy. Blacklisted.

Verified reviewIt was in a good location and quiet
The office stunk like cigarettes -even though I was only in there for a minute I smelt when I got back into the car. Also there was mould in the bathroom. Rooms were clean other than that. Air-con wasn’t overly warm even though we had put it up to 28’C.

Verified reviewThe check in office stank of cigarette smoke
No one smokes in the office Ryan but there is a wood heater on the other side of the door. I don't understand why you have rated us so harshly as my wife and I are very courteous to all our customers. The bed linen and towels are freshly laundered, the room has air con., TV, toaster, jug all crockery and cutlery, microwave and a hot plate so maybe some one should have stayed at home. I am glad that there are a lot of people that review fairly. Constructive criticism I can take and if we have erred we will wear it but it seems like there is on average 1 in 10 that should stay home. You have a nice day. Alan

Verified reviewClean, well located caravan park with cabins. Stayed one night enroute to Port Arthur. Comfortable, though small bed with electric blankets. Good kitchen and excellent wifi. Owners very helpful at check in. Heating was excellent as it was cold overnight.
Nothing.

Verified reviewClean. The bed was comfortable. Good location to go over to Maria island.
Our cabin was old and tired. It was not one of the refurbished cabins. We do not believe that we should have been charged the same rate per night as the refurbished cabins. For what it was it was expensive. The chairs were hard and uncomfortable to sit on and relax at night. The only thing I could do was lie in bed at night to get comfortable. The site also indicated that there was a sofa provided. The thing that was really disappointing was our cabin was not the standard family cabin shown on the site.

Verified reviewThere was a roof over our heads. There was a heater in the room
The cabin was not very clean, hair around bin in the bathroom. Dirt under the cushions of the sofa. There was a horrible smell coming from the drains (I think it was from there) The outside seating and table were very "ricketty" and not smooth to sit on
Yes everyone she got her refund through booking.com because that's who she paid not us. This is a terrible review and some people shouldn't go on holidays. It's not our fault that someone was ill and you had to go home so we copped it

Verified reviewOn arrival we were pleasantly surprised with the cabin. Just the right size and very clean with everything needed
Unfortunately something is wrong with the heating in the cabin. It just did not warm up at all, no idea why and to add to that the RHS of the electric blanket did not work at all, so a very cold night. We left early next morning so unable to let reception know. Apart from this all was good.
Sorry Colin but I reckon the air con might have been on the wrong setting. You should have called me mate and I would have sorted these problems for you. Cheers Alan

Verified reviewThis is a convenient spot to stay to get the Maria island ferry the next day. The unit itself is dated but has all the amenities - fridge, micro, stove top, dishes etc.
Given that it is in a small village and dated, it could be a little less expensive. The parking is also a little odd.

Verified reviewAlan and Sandy are great hosts - cabins are well appointed and very comfortable. More than enough comfort for a family of four, each cabin has cooking facilities including a BBQ. A quiet little town as a launch point for Wombat Heaven day trips on Maria Island. Clear, endless skies and wonderful sunsets in Triabunna.
